Landon Young

Don't remember two Kentucky high school linemen better than Drake and Landon! And both are solid WILDCAT commits!

Don't know where the doubt about his commitment ever came from except for the Chicken Little types.

I think anytime a commitment takes other visits then it's normal to be concerned, I don't consider that being a chicken little type. I think it's being honest and realistic about things, especially after the number of de-commits in the 2015 class. I'm glad to see Young shutting it down. We are lucky to have Young and Jackson in state.

Here is an article from the OSU site that is now moot as long as Young sticks to his guns.

I wonder if he took the visits and obtained the offers and camped just to get the 4th star. That probably carries clout with some of the other recruits.

Really solid kids might take visits for purposes you might easily fail to consider. Remember the kid who Auburn sent home last year? Sometimes the host school's coaches aren't the only recruiters on campus on a given weekend. Not saying that was the case with Young, but you never know.

Even if he does not actively recruit while there, it makes a statement if he goes, makes some connections with other OSU recruits, and then backs away from OSU.

If the kid has enough charisma, this dynamic can feed some additional "what's going on in Lexington?" curiosity among the other high caliber recruits who milled around Columbus with him.

So, if I am Stoops and Marrow, and as they do, HAVE A PAIR, I encourage kids I feel good about to take their visits, and even if passively, spread the good word about UK football being on the rise.

I really do think it is far too easy to white knuckle visits to other schools. Those other schools might just be helping us along by inviting in our recruits, being too confident that they can flip them.

There was an Ohio State fanboy writer for one of the other sites that Crystal-Balled Young to Ohio State after he visited during the Columbus camp. Asshats.

Well deserved and depending on how he does at that 5* Challenge he might make the top 250. Hopefully UK can keep him on board.

Its been my opinion that OL blocking DL in shorts and a T-shirt is almost useless in evaluating OL. With that said, I got to see a tape of a good bit of the OL vs DL at the 5*, I thought Jackson looked great, strong, intense. But the downside is Young had some serious trouble with the speed rushers I saw, he more than held his own with the bull rushers but those speed guys were just too quick for him. But the camps are built for speed guys to be successful so its hard to really pass any kind of judgement on them.

Which is why he'll likely be a RT. UK's really scrambling trying to find a future LT. Hitting JUCOs pretty hard.

I was thinking a G but improving his footwork and lateral mobility aren't things he can't improve on because his length, which is the first thing taken into consideration for an OT looks good. But everyone struggles finding that elite OT to protect the QB's backside, with all the speed guys getting after the QB now its tough to find OT's who are quick enough to handle them and big and strong enough to handle the bull rushers. Those guys don't grow on trees. We have 5 guys in the last 2 classes with the length, but I am not sure either of them have the foot quickness they need to play backside tackle, all of them can probably play RT or G, but we will see about the LT I guess. Usually 1 or 2 guys in each class that can do it as true frosh and be effective, they are rare.

His twitter makes it sound like he is shutting down recruiting and sticking with UK. Now he and drake can spend all their time recruiting for us.
Good stuff! Has to make Stoops sleep better at night.

agreed. the camps are set up to reward the D on these line drills. young won a couple battles against the guy going to osu and that dude is quick as lightning for a de/olb'er. granted almost every team in the sec has guys like that... but in comparison to other videos i saw... he was the only guy who was winning battles against that osu dude. ol is about the hardest position to predict future success at (qb? maybe). but the frame and athleticism is there. they get in pads and have a guard and maybe a te beside them with a rb in the backfield and all the sudden that de cant just do whatever in the hell has to to get to the qb and the qb can move up, out, back..

I think the one-on-one drills are very tough on the Olinemen, as a OLine acts as a unit and the space is not as great as seen in these videos, but we do get to see lateral quickness and fight. Jackson has looked really tough. Young is still growing. Both gonna be good!
