Lamont wasn’t exactly setting records from 3 point territory prior to coming to UK. He did however improve. 9% improvement from 3 and 7% improvement overall. Hopefully, we can see that same trajectory from Jaland. C’mon BBN let’s get behind this kid!!!

Dutcher's offense clearly held Butler back. He played on a UK team with better overall offensive players. Should help Lowe tremendously. He just has to put in the work.
It’s hard for others to grasp he was the focal point of Pitts offense… having to do it all. Here he will hopefully have the complimentary pieces which I think he will to be a PG. I think he will improve and do good things. Now will he have bad game(s) of course. It’s the same old people just waiting in the weeds for the bad game to say see I told you so.

Anyway agree with your post

If he can get the 3 AND 2 pt % up as much as Lamont did in his one year AND lower that turnover rate, he will be a GEM here.

Hopefully Coach Pope and his staff can do just that. I'm sure they feel like they can.

His 2pt% improved from 40.4% to 43.4% on 3.1(+85 shots) more attt/g

Still not great but an improvement nonetheless. Let's hope with hard work and improved players around him he can see very good growth going through his Jr season.

And hopefully the 3 turnovers/game was from him having to do too much for his team. He won't have to do that here next season.

That 26% 3 pt number is hopefully a result of that too.

I trust Coach Pope's judgement after what he was able to do with our roster this season and the improvements with nearly ALL of our players offensive numbers.

Hopefully he puts in the work like Butler and see his 3 point percentage rise. Butler's went up 9% this past season from his last year at SDSU. That number likely does rise some when taking better shots and more talented players around him.

Lowe is going to have Acaden pushing him for minutes too. I don’t think some of you all realize how good of a player Acaden will be.
I love Lewis as the freshman PG Pope brought in. I think he's going to be so much better, more efficient and effective next season and beyond because he doesn't have the burden of having to carry the team as PG1 next season. He can just develop in the right way. If he ends up passing Lowe next season by making the team better, fine he becomes the starter. Regardless, I kind of suspect that after the end of next season a decision will have to be made (by the players or Pope) at PG between Lewis and Lowe - a good thing actually, but one we don't need to think/worry about now.

Agree. Lowe, Lewis, and Johnson to go with hopefully Oweh is a pretty good backcourt
And let's not forget Chandler (never expected him to defend the way he was at the end of the season) and Noah (too good of shooter and too physically strong to write off). I think I prefer Oweh and Noah at SF (not sure whether I would rather see Williams at SF or PF), but I like the group regardless.

It is likely one of acaden or lowe may leave...

But that is still one year away

Do not have to worry now

Also, I think we may not get Taylen Kinney because we already have two pgs

You're right. When I posted I knew I was forgetting some players.

His free throw % is a lot better than Butler so he should be able to raise his his 3 pt % significantly.

This is just blind hope.....

1. We should not be a space of having to take a reach kid in year 2 under Pope....go get the top end kids.
2. We lost Dent to UCLA, Gillespie to Tennessee, Dedan Thomas to LSU...and all the rumor of Braden Smith....he's sticking at Purdue....
- How in hell are we losing kids to those schools with our PT and NIL...and not exaclty coaching novices Pope is losing dudes to.
3. Here is another "makes no sense" to Lowe. We clearly needed a one year guy and let Lewis take the ball in 2026...maybe Perry is ready as well. So Lowe is now splitting PG with Lewis for 2 years....and what about Perry?
4. You can put lipstick on this pig all you want.....36%FG is attrocious....26% F3pt is even worse in today's game. Savhir Wheeler shot 40%FG and 30-36% 3pt....and was rightfully criticized day one by UK fans.

This is a huge let down by Pope on the heels of losing Gwath at Center....I'm liking Kam Williams on the wing....but this has been a disaster portal showing by Pope. You can't hardly argue it any other way.

Looking at tape of him, it looks like almost all of his threes were off the dribble/heat checks. In Pope's system he'll get more step in threes off a pass I would think . That will improve ANYONE's percentage.

If only you were Kentucky’s coach instead of a guy who took over the program in mid-April with zero players and got the Cats to the Sweet 16…Every point you make is specious, but not worth the waste of time to refute.
It's not year 1....it's year 2 and he's had as much time to build thru portal than any other coach.'

But go ahead with the "you guys have coached " stuff. Ky fans saw the Cal smoke and mirrors falling apart and rightfully called it out. What Pope is doing this portal cycle...is easy as pie to see it ain't going to work.

He could defend. By all accounts Lowe cannot

You can’t make a lot of them see what’s right in front of them. Next February we will have 12+ losses and they’ll be making excuses again.

The issue for next year will boil down to the same one from this year. Recruiting wasn’t good enough. Atleast he had an excuse last year though. There’s just not one this year. Missing on this many of your top targets when you have a top offensive system, supposedly a ton of money and basically all the PT available means there’s something bad wrong. Either someone is actively screwing things up or players just don’t like our coaches after meeting with them. I’d lean toward option 1.

Gotta love these armchair experts.

Steals were higher than any of Lamont’s years. Do I assume that means he’s also a good defensive stopper? Rebound numbers better too.
