Lamar Wilkerson

Where is this smoke coming from?

Why? We need a shooter. Wilkerson looks to be a better shooter than Pierre.
We need a scorer that can shoot, when things break down and need someone to get a bucket…….i trust Pierre to make a play or create for someone else along with Oweh but last year we only had Oweh. Having 2 guys that can increases our success especially on the road in the sec when things are breaking down.

I hear ya, I just think we'll have more guys next year that will be able to get a bucket (should be more athletic). Kam and Mo alone should be able to do this I think. So, that's why I lean more to getting the best pure 3 point shooter we can. I'd be fine if we end up with Pierre too though.

Still definitely would be a better team overall with Wilkerson, if we can get him. We need a go get a bucket guy. who is gonna step up ? Pierre ? Wilkerson ? Someone else?

We still aren't quite done just yet.....

Anyone else kinda think Otega may take a serious look at the NBA? We’re pretty loaded at guard already, and I just don’t see us bringing in a Wilkerson or Pierre if he’s expected to be staying.
He can take a serious look, but the NBA isn't all that enamored with a guy that can't shoot at a high rate, or finish at the rim.

Pope pulls that one off and the haters can all take a very long walk off a short plank.

We also have Lowe for that. I believe his shooting percentage will be closer to his freshman year than last year. If he can hit 33 to 36% on 3 attempts it will open up a lot of possibilities. He won’t be chucking 8 a game trying to bail his team out.

Anyone else think its too little too late on him, Indiana and Arkansas have been in on him since the get go
Well, they’ve been on them, but they don’t have them yet so that might say something

Agree. For as much as I like Oweh, he’s a guard who doesn’t have the best of handles, is just average from 3 (at best), had a hard time finishing around the rim, and has mediocre athleticism for his position in the NBA. No GM is clamoring to draft a guy like that.

Pierre more explosive and seems more of a scorer than Lowe, I do think Lowe will have better numbers here but we still need “that guy” and Pierre fits that mold. With the front court now in question, gotta have Pierre with OO or if OO leaves then pair him with Wilkerson. I have no idea if Wilkerson is just a shooter like brea or not but he does have a nice % but can he go off the bounce?? Need those guys to make others better, just feel Pierre fills a bigger need than just a shooter only.

Probably trying to get more $$$ out of iu, but has anyone heard anything about Pierre? I feel he’s the bigger need than Wilkerson at this point.
All of this talk of kids trying to get more money at the end , I can't think of one that actually did that. Who was wrapped up and just started talking to new school , but then stuck with who they said at first

I told multiple people this year that Oweh was a slightly less athletic Archie Goodwin.
Good comp but I'd argue Oweh is a better shooter, even with the funky form.

And Oweh did miss a lot of layups but he was clutch when needed as he had a couple of game winners. Goodwin would've never hit those.

That guy missed more layups than anyone I've seen in a UK jersey that wasnt named Brandon Boston.
What team were you watching, not UK? Well for one, he drove to the basket more than anyone at UK in a long time. Maybe since Andrew or even further back to Bogans. So naturally more drives means both more misses and makes. And for two, most of his misses is because the refs were allowing him to get hammered at the basket much more than they let other players do. It was beyond "playing through contact".

Secondly, Edwards missed a whole lot more layups (& dunks) than anyone I've ever seen. To me Edwards is the worst finisher at UK I've seen in the 40+ years I've been watching. But then again it's hard to finish when you can't jump (I should know).

Archie was pretty bad from 3, that’s for sure. He was also on a far worse team once Noel went down and was often left trying to do anything he could to score as the shot clock was winding down. Just the best comparison I could think of for Oweh.

I felt that a lot of OO's misses were from making an easy shot difficult by adjusting mid air to avoid contact. He had a bunch of shots that instead of going strong, taking contact and trying to finish through the contact he would twist and turn in mid air throwing up a bad shot and not get a foul called because refs could tell he was trying to avoid contact.
