I think Moreno is going to be a great Center prospect for UK. Smooth athlete, good body for his age, runs and moves very well, blocks out and rebounds in his area great, good passer on cuts, good ball-handler, and blocks shots well. In fact, I think Moreno has about everything skill-wise I think one would want for an incoming freshman Center . . . EXCEPT a dependable outside/free throw shot.
He cocks the shot back behind his head on both his perimeter shot and his free throw shot. The shot is generally online but doesn't have enough arch. His shot is basically a direct path into the back of the rim, rather than coming down (as it would with more arch). So, if his shot catches any piece of the inside of the rim it often kicks out, whereas shots with more arch are coming down and can catch a piece of the rim and still fall in. It appears to me that Moreno too often needs to swish the net with his shot for it to go in from the perimeter or FT line. Unless he changes his form, I don't think he could be more than a 60-ish% FT shooter or 20-ish% 3pt. shooter regardless of the amount of practice he puts in. I wish his brother (a really good Guard for EKU a few years ago) or somebody would work with Moreno to change his shot form (which would take a ton of repetition).
