This post was directed to those who were inferring that Cal would only take one of the 2 (Fox or Simmons) and that Fox had first refusal. If that were true, I (Simmons) would just eliminate UK and move on..I have no knowledge of this being the case, bot some have voiced opinions as such.....Don't thank that's Cal's method........I think we get both, but not all four mentioned.
..........3 guards and Bridges sounds good.........Jones + Giles or Bolden **************
I agree, we could get Simmons and Fox, no problem, they are not mutually exclusive.
Fox would play mainly at the 1. Monk primarily at the 2. Simmons mostly at the 3, though he would back up the 1 as well.
If you add in Bridges, then Simmons goes to the bench or if Cal decides to go small, then you put Bridges at the 4. Bridges is still on the perimeter, in the DDMO (with 4 out, 1 in).
I personally want this (being realistic, so no Giles):
Starters
G Fox
G Monk
F Bridges
F Gabriel
F Killeya-Jones
Bench
F Humphries- sixth man.
G Mulder- top backcourt reserve.
G Matthews
F Wynyard
G Hawkins
Fox and Monk are a great duo in the backcourt. Monk can handle the point when Fox is out of the game, with Mulder in at the 2. Matthews provides additional depth at the 2 and 3 spots. Hawkins brings experience if needed, but usually gets spot duty minutes.
Bridges and Gabriel are so well suited to play together. Both have the perimeter skills to play the 3. Bridges has the strength to play the 4. Gabriel has the length to play the 4. They seem pretty interchangeable, which gives us flexibility at those positions.
Killeya-Jones is a good replacement for Labissiere, though not as talented. With Humphries off the bench, we have a banger, he will see starter minutes. Wynyard gives us additional size, but plays limited minutes.
That's my realistic dream team for 2016-17. I think we have a real shot to have that team.
