Kirk Herbstreit’s dog Ben has crossed the Rainbow Bridge

I hated to see that. Ben was the highlight of most gamedays for me. I am thankful he was able to have many adventures that last year of his life going with Kirk to all the stadiums.

That sucks. My 16.5 year pit bull is really struggling with her back end. She doesn’t have cancer and isn’t sick, so we’re basically just gonna try to use palliative care in the hopes that it’s enough for her to go to the bathroom by herself, and she’ll pass naturally.

We had a pit/boxer mix that was struggling with arthritis in his back legs. Got to the point where he could barely walk/stand so we had to make the difficult decision to let him go a couple months back. It is a hole in your heart that never goes away. Our other pit mix still hasn't gotten over it. He hasn't been the same since because I know he misses his side kick. It is the worst part of being a pet owner but the lifetime of joy and memories while doesn't make it easier to say goodbye, makes it worth it to have to go through it.

I’m so sorry. Yeah, we’ve gone through the different meds and shots, it’s just diminishing returns at this point. It’s so sad seeing her go from 80 pounds and healthy just a few years ago to under 50 now.

Very sad. Pet's are family and losing one is emotionally traumatic. Got to be grateful for the years you have with them, and try to feel good about yourself for what you did for them once they pass on.

Yep. When I had to put mine down I felt like I had failed her. The first time I came home and didn’t have her come greet me just broke my heart. I sat down in my chair and cried ugly man tears.

And I’ve shed a few today because I hurt for him today because I know how hard it is to lose your soul dog.

Boy I miss mine today.

To those hat still have their furry friends, love on them a bit more today.

I’m sorry. I watched mine do that and found out her kidneys were failing. She went quick and in my heart I knew she was going. Took her to the vet thinking maybe one last try we could do it. But there was no way. I still remember that last day I came home she just kind of walked up to me and wagged as best she could and went to lay back down by my late mom’s wheelchair I hadn’t gotten moved yet.

God I miss both them.
