Kerr returning?

I would expect Kerr back unless Pope and he agree to something different.

On a separate note, that pic makes me feel bad for Jaxson....that would suck. He looks like he is in good spirits though.
I feel terrible for him and us. This was a great season until Butler went down and then him. I wanted him to go out playing well for us.

Say what you will about Kerr (I don't like his shot selection) but no one was questioning the team's energy and effort during the first nine games. We would know what we're getting, and Pope will know who he needs to go get. I'll be happy to have another returning player. I think his loooonnnnnggggg 3 pt attempts were at times when it didn't matter anyway.

I would love to be 25 years old (or 60 for that matter) and having my grad studies paid for, playing for the greatest team in college basketball history, and making more $$$ than I thought possible while doing it. I would laugh at those that didn't like it.

Time to move away from college basketball, Kerr.

Seriously though, the guy is going to be 25 next year, and quite frankly, it is embarrassing for any 24+ to be playing college basketball.
I could be embarrassed for $100K or so. Could also think of a lot worse ways to make six figures.

I don’t know man , I would think that bringing in Lewis and keeping Kerr would make us less attractive to top portal point guards .
That is my one main concern with him returning. And we already have Perry, who's not really a PG and not really a 2-guard. Two undersized combo guards that don't defend really well aren't exactly great pieces.

And I can’t imagine Kerr returning if he isn’t expecting big minutes. Lewis is too good to be the 3rd string pg, Kerr is not returning to be the 3rd string pg . I don’t believe we can be a serious contender with Kerr as our starting pg. I doubt we could be a serious contender with Lewis as our starting pg . Plus , foot injuries are a tricky thing and often show up again. IMO we have to bring in a starting portal pg . It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Agreed. It's kind of messy, for sure. I'm like most others, just not really confident in Kerr and Lewis being the two PG options. I guess with Perry kinda/sorta being a third. Depth, sure. But kinda would like to see some serious top end talent there.

I'm not so sure, that Lewis will not be a winner in this system . When you go watch BYU last year and uk this year. Pope never had high end talent. He take average college players and put out a winning product. I'm really interested in watching how Lewis/ Johnson end up playing. A lot of hard explosive cuts out of zoom action will open our 3 point shooters up a lot more.

I think Lewis and Johnson are plenty talented enough, I just hate to depend on a freshman as my starting point guard.

Thanks for proving my point.

A 25 year old has no business playing college basketball, whatsoever.

18 year old freshmen should never, ever, be expected to have to play against 25 year old. Ever. It makes a mockery of the sport. Guess you don't care. Glad you enjoyed a 25 year old mopping up at Rupp.
I have been on this board for damn near 20 years and this is one of the weakest takes I have ever seen.

“We have to protect the game for 18 year olds so we shouldn’t welcome back a seasoned veteran who is legal to play”.

We don’t make the rules and this is professional basketball now. If Kerr wants to come back and make 6 figures to help our team, that is good for us. He will mentally wreck 95% of 18 year old PGs and I’m here for it.

If we're rolling into next year with Kerr Kriisa being an impact player for us, that's bad news
The top teams have multiple guards that can both shoot and get to the rim. Auburn just spread us out this way even with playing two bigs. We need talented athletes to go to the next level, KK is not that.

I don't think it means anything, other than odds are he requests for a medical redshirt year.
He could then use it at UK or elsewhere.

I think him and Pope will discuss. If KK thinks he will be the lead PG then he may return, but if he thinks he won't be the lead PG, and he gets good NIL offers elsewhere, then I think he transfers.

He played9 games with guys he had never played with before. Williams didnt look so hot early either and look what happened. The truth is Kris a never got a real chance to show what he can bo. Your damn right I'd take him back next year.

I was hoping we would get Kerr back for a run in the NCAA'S, when it first happened, I thought they said it wasn't a bad injury and he would be out a few weeks, I should have known better. It's been some bad luck for some of our players through the years. Mike Casey never was the same after a car wreck severely injured his leg. Bowies leg never healed right, now Robinson has had to have surgery for a wrist that wouldn't heal without surgery and Kerrs injury was odd and hasn't healed like they thought it would. Then we have lost some injuries during the season like Rodney Dent and Derrick Anderson and there have been more. It's really frustrating, I know it is for them, I guess that's part of it but it seems like we have had to much of it.

would be plenty of room & minutes for Kerr to return. Could always slide Johnson to small forward, Lewis to 2n guard & Kerr to point guard when resting Otega. Kerr is needed energy & swag and played pretty well at Arizona.

Who gives a rats ass? It’s legal. Stay behind the times if you want. I want the best avialble talent on the team regadless of age.
MJ mentioned Kerr would be in the portal, along with Garrison. Even if he has inside information it is a horrible time to put the info out there about Garrison. Kriisa has been to how many schools now? Personally, I hope we can find a starter quality PG in the portal and let the 25 year old backup move on.

You do realize that this is professional sports now, right? You need to re-adjust all your old pre-conceptions about how the sport works in the NIL era.

Lots of guys will be wanting to play well past traditional college age now that it’s a lucrative money making venture. And the NCAA seems quite cool with allowing it. This is the new normal, either adjust to it or be left behind.

I’m willing to cut Amari a little more slack for taking time to get up to speed because he was moving up from a mid major conference and probably had to adjust to the physicality he sees night in and night out in the SEC (something that he’s done an amazing job at and become one of our best players after the somewhat inconsistent start).

With Kerr, he’s been at power conference programs the whole time even if he’s bounced around a bit, so I feel like he mostly is what he is at this point. A guy who’s going to talk trash while running hot and cold chucking long 3s, combining dazzling assists with irritating turnovers, and playing very little defense. It’s how he’s played his whole career, and it’s what he did for 9 games here except he never really managed a hot shooting night for us. He’s not a complete no talent, but I personally feel like his ceiling is pretty low as a starting point guard at this stage in his career. We’ll need better if we want to achieve what we’re hoping for.
