Kerr Kriisa

According to Joe Tipton, he's heard Kerr is exploring the option of getting a medical redshirt so he can return to UK next season
Must be worse than they expected. Sucks because we could use him. Looks like a Perry is gonna have to keep getting better. At least we have his experience next year because he shouldn’t have an issue getting one.

Yeah, that birthday surprise clip was not encouraging injury wise. He was moving about, but on crutches and just moving slow. He's a long way back from cutting about on the court.

If he returns in next year, he may not even be the backup pg anymore if we recruit a starter guard in portal, lewis is more likely to play in front of him. He may not play much on the court as this season did.

But would love him to return, love his energy and he can teach lewis and perry a lot. And I think he is good guy and loves bbn. If we finally recruit another better guard, I think he will embrace his more limited role without doubt. Love him as a cat

Yeah...not too excited about this...not a pure no but there are issues...

1. We need a starter level PG to pair with Acaden Lewis. And Krissa is not a starter level PG and that is easy to see. (FOr all the rah-rah stuff that people love...he was shooting 28% FG and 27%3pt....and he's not defensive dynamo)
2. What does this do to Travis Perry...who I think is perfect to get those extra minutes behind SG/PG topline guys. Perry is improving, he's got s scorer pedigree and I'd love to keep him at UK for 4 years.

So Krissa back.....does he bump Perry down (heck Perry could conceivably beat him out next year)....I don't mind as long as Pope is dead set on getting another Butler to run the team next year.

That's one heck of a player to have as your 2nd or 3rd string PG.

I couldn't agree more with this 👏. I think tbe upside Perry brings for us next year is enough to where I wouldn't really want to have Kerr taking away minutes from him. They are similar players but Perry has more upside and you really can't play them at the same time. I still think we need to bring in a portal guy who has defensive attributes.

Kriisa was perfect for this UK team.... really wish he'd get healthy.

Next year as others have stated he may be either in the same role or bumped down to 3rd string. If he's okay with that then I'm sure everyone would welcome back with open arms. Just not sure he's a starter.

After this season where we are scraping by for a backup PG, people would really pass this option up? I see no downside.
No I'm not saying there is a downside either yes I think he should be welcomed back but I just hope the coaching staff sees it the same way as many of us do in terms of Kerrs role.

Understand where you’re coming from but the counter argument would be that those percentages were well below his career % built over 4 years compared to less than 10 games.

I think we still look for a Butler type PG in the portal (hoping Hubbard). But if Acaden Lewis is the guy we hope he can be, Pope may use Kerr to bring Lewis along the first 5-10 games and once Lewis has his feet under him and adjust to the speed of the game, it becomes his team as the lead guard and Kerr plays the role he was brought to play this season as the 10-15 min energy and pace guy.

Having Kerr and Perry in the backcourt with a season of knowing/understand the offense will only help the situation with whoever we bring in (Lewis, JJ, and maybe a portal guy) learn the system. Same with getting BG back next season helping MM and whichever portal big we get

I'd rather have Perry play that energy and pace role and excuse me if you are factoring him into that already. If we have Jasper, Lewis, and Perry play plus a good portal gaurd to go alongside Otega on the wing then I just don't know where Kerr gets playing time.

Well was hoping we get another look at him this year and it seems we need him. He must see the recovery window for this season as almost closed and that's suks for the guy.

Have they given you any reason at all thus far to second guess their decision making or ability to construct a roster?

I’m going to go ahead and give Rob the benefit of the doubt and consider his statement a carryover of the post Cal PTSD we all went through. There’s a new sheriff in town, and he actually knows how to do the coach stuff pretty good.
Yes it's hard that was quite a few years of that Cal crap we all had to endure. Like you said new sheriff in town it's a whole new philosophy we all have to get used too.

But your assumption, if I am reading it correctly, is we would run with Kerr/Lewis as PG...and forego a bigtime portal PG (like Butler).

I think I am not willing to take that risk next year...I 100% believe UK should not assume Acaden Lewis can take PG starter.....this is the mindset Calipari would do and you most years fall short. And Lewis is not rated like a John Wall type PG...he's more like a SGA rated PG..

Kentucky fans: “I’m so sick of how Cal pushes guys out the door to make spots for his favorites.”

Also Kentucky fans: “We need to push Kerr out the door to make spots for our favorites.”
Again..>Kerr may be a favorite with his fire and emotion...but he was shooting 27%FG and 26%3pt (albeit in 10ish games off bench)....and not a lockdown defender. So he was not exactly lighting anything up...he was a serviceable backup PG to Butler....I think he's been overplayed on this board a bit.

And Perry is up to 35%3pt.....so you could make a case he's catching up/exceeding Kerr in that backup PG already.

Call me when Perry gets back on defense after experiencing a season ending injury. Both can be good, don’t have to put down one to raise the other
