Keon Wakefield to UL (Disses UK)

as Freddie Maggard accurately pointed out on twitter, some local media folks tried to chastise Kash Daniels for his unkind remarks/treatment towards UL after committing to UK. Lets see if they will hold a UL guy to the same harsh high standards.

(I'LL SAVE YOU THE WAIT - THEY WON'T)

I don't know about local media folks and I haven't seen video of what Wakefield did but, if he did that with the hats - that was childish and uncalled for. Much in the same way that Daniels was ungracious in his comments after choosing Kentucky, kids should have and show respect to the coaches who recruited them in good faith.

so who is the cheater on Louisville's staff?

I'm going to go with Bobby Petrino.

Sincerely,

Sorry, not buying the "we pulled his offer card". THat gets played way too much. Even if they are focusing on Defense now, you don't pass on a talent like Kewon. You take him and force someone to decommit.

If you can't spell the name you shouldn't try to discuss.

I dunno - cards

Lol - I don't argue with children - regardless of how unintelligent and foul mouthed they are. All anyone can do is hope you'll mature enough one day to take over the family ditch digging business.
Game, set, match. Nicely done BPGhost.

Look, I doubt anyone on this board has seen Keion play more games, save his parents, than me and Keion's on field production never lived to the hype. I hope he puts it together his senior season and becomes that AA he can be, but he: hasn't shown consistent hands to date, takes plays off (as in walks down field) and isn't even the best receiver on his team in terms of production. That title goes to Zack Smith who is a huge UL fan BTW and getting small college looks (he's small and white, sorry, but it is true that has an effect).

I wanted Keion at UK, badly because I'm a MALE guy, but from what I have seen I can totally see why we didn't have a spot for him. We surely offered long ago, but the WR spot filled up with better talent (true again, though it pains me) and both parties moved on. Hate that KW picked UL, but I knew it wasn't going to be UK for a long time. I was hoping for Purdue.

I hope he kills it in college, but not against UK. Honestly, surprised he was a take for UL at this point. Maybe after senior season with great results, but now? I figured UL thought the same about him as UK did.

When was it that Kash decided to grow his line-beard?
Probably around the same time you decided that Bobby Petrino suddenly was no longer a piece of ish, adulterous traitor.

you don't have to buy anything...STFU and GTFOff this board if you don't like it

Was not a committable offer. Not even a controversial take. Anyone that followed recruiting more than the casual fan knew that. I don't remember the last time I mentioned him in a recruiting update. He's a solid player. I saw him at a Rivals Camp. I haven't heard any source mention him in a very long time.

Isn't that what we did with his offer a couple of years ago?

That is exactly what happened Stoops pissed on his offer after he threw it on the floor. If Kid was top teir reciever he was Oregon bound. UL got an average receiver a dime a dozen of him out there.

Not true. Oregon plays stictly run offense. Bobby throws it all over the field upwards of 60 times a game. If you were a receiver would you rather play in a system where all you will do is block or a system where you can catch the ball and get out in space? As a receiver, UofL please.

Have fun with this guys.

Petjurino, you had better run and tell the two 4 Star 6.0 and 5.8 WR's who have committed to the Ducks about what O they run....hurry before it's to late.

That's not a knock on Oregon or their program. I think the Beavers have a great program but if you are a wide receiver, wouldn't rather play in a pass happy offense? I know I would. Why would I want to go somewhere and only block? Come on, you have to admit that makes sense.

You can answer that question yourself.

The process of answering it is simple.

Look at all the receivers over the last decade that have had offers from both schools and see which school got more commitments. Or look at the consensus rankings/offer lists of the receivers each program has landed. "If you are a wide receiver..." Because there are real, live wide receivers that have made this decision, and they are not living in the hypothetical you just created.

I'm not saying your point is dumb. I can see why a receiver would find reasons to like Louisville. That's not a question. But that point alone is insufficient to account for a decision about where you will spend four or five years of your life. Why would a receiver rather play for Alabama than Washington State? Mike Leach is going to air that sucker out four times as much as Saban and Kiffin.

Oregon just played for a national championship. They are universally regarded as 'the' program on the cutting edge of everything in the sport and their brand is enormous. They aren't hurting for NFL players and their coaching staff has been almost entirely constant for how long?

For such a mediocre player, one that Kentucky didn't offer and Kentucky fans didn't want - there sure are a bunch of threads about him and his decision - lol.

What happened to UK locking down the city of Louisville? Rodjay Burns and now Wakefield. Two talented players playing for top notch championship caliber 6A programs in the state. By the way, his commitment bumped Louisvilles class to #23 on Rivals ahead of both Florida and Auburn with only 3 more spots available. So much for the decline of Louisvilles recruiting under Petrino!

I will wait for someone to show stats that Bobby throws it around 60+ times a game... hell

Oh my. LOL

1) This kid is a nice WR, not an elite player. If he was, Oregon would have had him a long time ago.
2) Your knee-jerk assertion that a program should simply "force someone[else] to decommit" so they can pick up someone "better" tells me all I need to know about you.
If Keion had the speed of his teammate Devin Gentry or Henry Clay's Davonte Robinson then I would suspect he would have gotten offered by Oregon. He still will make an excellent slot receiver for UofL. One system's fit may be a misfit in another system.

I know we only got 5 of the top 6 guys in the state... Stoops is slipping.

I've seen him play multiple times. He's a good receiver but not a great one. He has potential but i didnt see it on the field. Ul got a nice player. I don't know anything about the kid from Trinity. I'll catch some more hs games this fall.

I can honestly say I'm not sure I would trade him for any of our other WR recruits in the class.

A pass happy offense with a starting QB that can't throw a lick, a patchwork Oline, and a couple transfer and JUCO WR's? Tell me again how you plan to throw so much and win 10 games

1) The kid picked The Ville over Oregon and UK. He had his chance to go but chose to stay here at an up and coming program
2) Sorry if you think that reflects on me but you know as well as I do that is the way college football works. Had Randall Cobb come in the fold late, would you have really pulled his offer because you needed defense? I can answer that for you. No, you would take the commitment and deal with the numbers or force someone to look elsewhere. It happens everywhere and you know it. It's just not a big deal. It's part of college football.

This kid ain't Randall Cobb. UK would have waited for Cobb. They didn't wait for Wakefield. UK fans are clearly going over board by suggesting that he wasn't good enough for UK but they are in fact correct that he didn't have an offer. You might have won the argument if you came back saying that if UK did offer would he have chosen UK over UL. I don't believe that he would have. Regardless he didn't have an offer. That seems to be a fact that has been backed up by Justin Rowland on his reports. That is not to say that UK won't take another WR in this class. If the #1 WR were interested in UK we would find a way to fit him in as you were alluding to with your Cobb comment. However it is clear that UK did not view Wakefield as a Cobb like talent. Apparently neither did Oregon.

The kid might have had a conditional offer that he could have a SS if UK had some de commitments. I think his chance at a for sure SS went away a long time ago. He just wasn't worth playing silly games with. I also wonder if UofL promised his brother a full ride if he signed with them.

They say ignorance is bliss,I'm asking you because of all the people on this board you should be able to answer.Run with it,sorry I couldn't resist.[roll]
