Kentucky up to #9 in AP Poll

Star Wars GIF

2 teams ahead of Kentucky that already have an L. This is why polls cannot be taken seriously. We should be a min of #7 but they hate us. Fact.
If we win out to the Zags then take them down out there we should be the new #1.
A. Its our birth right
B. We would have not one but two wins over top 6 teams and neither game was played in Ky!

We started out at 23 and we climbed all the way up to 9. So that win over Duke that was a 14 spot climb which is a really good jump. If we keep taking care of business we'll get there!

Arkansas has scored 208 points in 3 games. Kentucky had 203 in their first 2. Through 3 games UK has scored 72 more points than Arkansas. Thank goodness that archaic offense is gone. The first half of last season was an aberration for Cal. He basically only played like that half of last year and sort of like that during the Fox/Monk season.

No. It's not that simple. Otherwise in football you would see Army in the top 5-6.
Some voters vote based on record, what have you done.
While other voters vote based on they eye test, what do they think you WILL DO.
Then other voters vote based on a combination of what have you done, and what do they think you will do.

I think you need to consider as many factors as possible, not just wins and losses. How convincing were the wins/losses, were they based on the flip of a coin chances at the end of the game. Who have you beaten. Who has beaten you. And yes, when the N (# of games) is small then expectations are more of a factor now than they will be in February.

I didn't think we'd be that high and I didn't think Duke would be that low. I was wrong on both counts.

That being said, it doesn't make sense to give us that big of a jump AND drop Duke that many. It should be one or the other. Either it was an impressive win by us over a really good team, or a bad loss by them because they were over rated. To make both teams move that much is a bit illogical.

We deserve to be top 10-12. Beyond that, all bets are off. I think we had a nice and deserved jump and that we will win our games, unless the wheels come off, until Gonzaga. I think that one can go either way but should tell us all a lot about this team. I like that Pope is familiar with Few and I think we have a fair chance of winning that game. But I wouldn't be surprised either, if that's where we lose our first game. Just keep taking one game at a time and let the chips fall. I like where we are at this point, though. Gonzaga looks good to me but not unbeatable, at all.

The same can be said about Purdue and Alabama. Heck, Alabama fell 6 spots from previously being ranked #2. The fact that we moved up is what is important and not so much about what happened to Duke, imho.

Wonder if we have ever been so poorly ranked preseason Aike?
Well, look at all those years they pre season ranked us in the top 5 and it only took a couple weeks before we made the voters look terrible.

We have a brand new team, in most cases, teams built like ours don't do very well. Pope and this team are putting in a lot of hard work and they earned this. We should just leave it at that instead of trying to call out the voters.

You can't blame voters for thinking we wouldn't be this good.
