Kentucky-Tennessee Series

We're not a great team, but it's not like we're getting blown out of games either. Still a glimmer.

Congrats on an AWESOME series win at #4 Tennessee. I was concerned about UK slipping out of NCAA contention, but winning this series puts us in a much stronger position.

No small-ball the last two days.
There was actually a ton of small ball this weekend and for the most part it drove Tennessee insane. We stole a ton of bases, bunted in a few runs, etc. Drives me crazy sometimes, but it can sometimes cause the other team a lot of stress.

Holy hell, what an effort by the bat cats this weekend. Talk about turning the season around. I guess all of these close losses weren't fool's gold and really did indicate that something good was building.

-McCay and Cleaver were lights out. McKay had one of the more dominant outings I can remember from a UK pitcher (especially against that lineup in that stadium). Cleaver wasn't far behind today. Damn, it felt good to see all of those orange strikeouts and lazy fly outs.

-Saturday was an embarrassment for UT as they simply could not stop our base running. It seemed like every time we got a man on first, he was on third before you knew it. I was loving their pain. I knew their pitcher was slow to the plate but had no idea that we'd have that kind of success.

-Ming has driven some of us crazy this year, but have to give the guy credit for trying some new things and changing up a stagnant lineup (though one could also argue he was crazy for having some guys sitting the bench, but I digress). Schwartz has been a real spark, as has Gargett. Hage is REALLY struggling, but bell and Herrera and others are hitting and getting on base.

-Loved to see some clutch hitting today. Our first runs came with two outs. We didn't leave many ducks on the pond today, and it was a really fun game to watch.

-Can Roszel coach or what? Jeez, our pitching staff was STRUGGLING about a month ago. Now, all of the sudden, you have Cleaver and McKay dealing. Gregerson is starting to look like Indiana state Gregorson, Nova and Byers have become ole reliables out of the pen.

One series does not a season make, but the NCAA tourney is now a very realistic goal when it was looking bleak a week or two ago.

I like the way you think and write!

Really enjoyed in Sundays game where the ut relief pitcher #7 I think decided he would start barking at the UK hitters. Well on a very questionable called strike against T Bell he really stared telling at Bell then tried to wave him off the field. Next inning UK ran him right out of the game.
