We'll be a 3.

St. Johns is a 4 according to the NET. They'll be a 2.

Gonzaga is a 2 according to the NET. They'll be an 8/9.

Sparty is a 3 according to the NET. They'll be a 2.

It's the whole picture, and the industry is pretty much all aligned and in consensus that we are a 3.

If we aren't a 3, I'll be SHOCKED.

Now last year, EVERYONE thought we'd be a 4 seed after the loss to A&M in Nashville, and we stuck a 3 still. Committee doesn't always hate us as much as people think.
Top 5 SOS, 11 Q1 wins, and top 10 in their new WAB definitely is a compelling case for a 3 on paper.

5 seed talk is just people not understanding the selection process.

4 seed is not plausible without some really weird squirreliness from the committee just punking us very hard for no good reason.

But we’re not exactly strangers to really weird squirreliness from the committee just punking us very hard for no good reason. So I don’t really blame anyone who’s expecting a possible 4 seed based on having become accustomed to emotional abuse over the years.

I still think that’s basically just a nervous tick though. We were a very well established 3 seed and the only things that have happened since then are we beat Oklahoma and then we lost to Alabama without Butler but we found out we’ll have Butler back when it counts. So how are we anything but a 3 seed.

they could drop us to a 4. It would be a slap in the face but we’re due some breaks. We are the same team they had as a 3 seed in their reveal nothing has changed.

I think 2016 and 2011 still stick in people's minds. 2011 was almost 15 years ago and 2016 was almost a decade ago though.

2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 UK teams were all seeded accordingly or perhaps favorable (2024 and 2023 many of us thought 4 seed and 7 seed. They got a 3 and 6).

Yup.

6-4 since then, I believe. 8 games against Quad 1 opponents. 4-4 in those games. 3 of the 4 losses to Quad 1A teams.

Lost to Bama twice. Once on the road and once at a neutral site. Lost to Auburn. Beat Mizzou and OU on the road. Only loss to a lower seed was Texas on the road.

Probably the toughest schedule since the reveal.

#15 in Net (4 seed), 16 in KenPom (4 seed)

I think we are right on the edge between 3/4, won’t be surprised with either
Gonzaga is 8th in Net. You gonna give them a 2 seed? Net and Kenpom are really only accurate when the season is done. Then magically after all the results are in they’re close. Never understood why so much stock is put into them.

Except this isn't really true.

This seems to get floated around quite a bit but isn't really accurate. There's not much difference in mean average error for Kenpom looking at it on a month by month basis. This is reflected on the Model Diagnostics page on Kenpom website.
