Kentucky opens -1 vs UF

I feel like we should win, but I haven't even seen Florida play this year.
Agree here. No idea how they look, and we all know stats don't always tell the story.

Their schedule hasn't been fantastically hard, but they clearly can score points and grab rebounds. Then again, their schedule looks a bit weak. Here are a few notable games:

UVA: Lost 73-70. UF had 47 rebounds, shot 40% from the floor (only 28% from 3), but had 16 turnovers to UVAs 6. Granted, we know UVA is a defensive team, so this isn't a good example to use for gauging our performance tomorrow.

Baylor (ranked at the time): Lost 95-91. Whatever Baylor did to limit rebounds worked. But there was clearly very little defense played. Baylor shot 51.7% from the field with a whopping 56% from 3, while grabbing 33 boards and 14 TOs. UF shot a respectable 44.9%, but they clearly suck at the three shooting only 30.8%. 12 TOs and 38 boards. So a pretty equal game from both sides. This game might be a better indicator of what UK might look like against UF.

AT Wake Forest: Lost 82-71. Stats much like the Baylor game, but clearly the game was much slower given the lower scoring affair. UF shot 40% from the floor and again a paltry 33.3 from 3. 15 turnovers (they seem turnover prone), and were outrebounded 34-33.

Wins since that loss: Merrimack 77-57, Richmond 87-76, East Carolina 70-65 (close one and UF had 52 boards, but again shot crap from three at 25%), Michigan 106-101 (another run fest), Grambling 96-57 and Quinnipiac 97-72.

One thing I get from all of those games is this: UF sucks from the three. In the Michigan game they attempted 29 three pointers and only made 8. Maybe this is where they get all of their rebounds?

I dont feel good about this one. First true road game (UL was neutral) and the O dome is a hell of a place to have the first. Gonna be a rowdy crowd.

No different than any other road environment when UK comes to town. Tenn, Ark and Auburn are all tougher places to play than the O Dome is now. Cats should win this game by 8-10.

Hmmm no faith in the Cats it seems. Well they gonna show yall something tomorrow. Florida aint winning a damn thing

We’re kicking their asses.

Someone said UVA is a defensive team?😆

No they aren’t. They are a stall ball team that just keeps the score down by stalling.

They play a zone defense and call it “pac line”.

Fluriduh won’t know what hit them.

This is our first true road game (since UL was a home game practically lol) so we'll most likely lose unless Florida is just really cold shooting.

UF is going to fight like heck and have refs on their side since its their home game against a top 10 team. its a huge test for the cats and all the young guys, will they fight through it or sulk and lay down with the refs making calls against em?

This all day. How soon we forget the traditional choppy SEC officiating. Any combination of Adams, Lindsey, Luckie, Shows, Sirmons or Groover and there’s no way this isn’t a close game.

The line has moved to +2.5 for the Cats so money been pouring in on the Gators since Opening Line was posted.

Both are true.
Yes they play at snails pace but they also have the 12th best defensive efficiency this season and most years under Bennett it's been top 10.

Efficiency strips pace out of the question.

I guess if we lose we will lose a high scoring affair.

If this team can't beat this Florida team may as well say 4 seed max n ncaa.

3.5 seems crazy. That means Florida would be a favorite in a neutral arena and UK would only be a 4 point favorite at home.

something seems off to me

either they know something we don’t, or they are over-valuing floridas home court advantage

My vibe in talking to people is that Thiero isn't going to play tomorrow, as he didn't participate in the walk thru yesterday before they left Lexington. But who knows, maybe he does give it a go. If he doesn't go, Burks needs to step up for us in a big way. We don't beat UNC without Thiero IMO. Worried that Florida might be the same.
