Everyone email your legislators and ask them to support House Bill 336 so we never have to be held hostage by a lifetime contract again. Cow’s seat is definitely hot 🔥😊

Maybe it’s not too late. How embarrassing this must be for President Capilouto and Mitch Barnhart. Politicians basically saying you’re inept and have to draw up a bill to prevent you from doing something so stupid again. And Cal’s ego is taking a major hit.
Cow needs to crawl out of town before it gets really ugly!

Gotta agree with you on this. Total waste of taxpayer dollars. Our legislators can’t get sports gambling or recreational weed passed, but they want to waste their time on this garbage just to make a point about Cal? The people of this state deserve better representation.
It is stupid not to allow marijuana and sports betting in KY. It’s also stupid to pay 9 million a year to our inept coach. He’s a bigger waste of our taxpayer dollars in my opinion.

My dude he doesn't get a single tax dollar. Nobody in the athletic department does. It's wholly self sufficient, takes no dollars from the university.

I don't have a problem for Cal to stay at UK in a role of interest to him. Just not the basketball coach. If there is something at the university that calls for that much salary stick him somewhere to get some return back. If it was up to me he be on cafeteria duty with the size of turd he's left laying last few years.

I’m not going to argue with anyone. Especially anyone still defending Calipari.
I put the information out there and already emailed my representative asking him to support the bill.

This does tell me that Cal’s seat is red hot as it should be.
What it tells us is your obsession is reaching new heights

There is no mention of specific limitations, only “lifetime contracts”.

So, this bill wouldn’t have even prevented Calipari’s current contract and there is technically nothing preventing a contract for 50 years if the trustees deem acceptable. Furthermore, retirement benefits have no monetary limitations if approved.

“The board of trustees may establish and maintain such retirement plan or plans as it may deem to be for the best interests of the University of Kentucky, including, but without limitation, the retirement ages, the benefits of such employees including group insurance, annuities, establishment of a trust fund or funds; and, the amounts to be paid or contributed by such employees and the amounts to be paid or contributed by the University of Kentucky and other appropriate terms and provisions with respect thereto.”

Exactly, they are just boosting the black market and allowing tax money to slip away. One of the poorest states in the union could definitely benefit from that revenue stream in some way.

It’s only a minority on this message board that’s not happy with Cal, right?
Yet, it’s all over Facebook and Twitter. Now representatives introducing a new Bill.

Yep a minority 😂😂😂😂
Dumb ass total dumb ass jerk

It’s a shame we have to introduce a bill so that athletic directors won’t make a ridiculous decision to give someone a lifetime contract. You would think logic would be enough to ward off such decisions.

Great!

What a waste of time and money. I’m as pissed about Cal as anybody but what the eff is this? Our education system needs severe work, we have cities in the Commonwealth that are dirt ass poor and have no employment opportunities, the Eastern half of the Commonwealth still needs help and support, and this…..THIS is what they are wasting time on?

Politics has become fake ass virtue signaling from both sides. What a joke.

THROW THE BUMS OUT.

This totally isn’t a personal criticism of Calipari’s job btw. The Representative doesn’t even like college sports and focuses more on the Pro’s(yeah ok….) It also doesn’t retroactively void contracts like Cal’s but instead prevents contracts like them in the future, so it won’t save those who hope it’s passed for this reason.

It actually wouldn’t even prevent Calipari’s current contract in the future. It just says “lifetime contract”. Calipari technically has a 10 year contract.

Also even if it did somehow pass I don’t think it would hold up under legal scrutiny since it interferes with the free market and I don’t believe any state funds are used to pay Cal’s salary. I believe most of it is setup based on his media obligations. Something like 400-500k is his actual salary and the rest is for the coaches show and all that jazz.

It was actually in the bill anyway that had it been a real lifetime contract that it would not affect it.

Hey F it, anything that could potentially, even if probably not, stop a Calipari from duping UK in the future.

Let’s do it.

Where do I go to help?

You do know that Cal is considered to be a State of Kentucky employee and that he has a low salary and the vast majority of salary comes from non-university sources.

You can change "vast majority" to "100%"
None of it comes from the University, and only about half a million or so comes from the athletic department. The rest is media contracts.
