Kentucky falls to No. 13 in new USA Today coaches poll

That's being kind. They must not have watched our performance at LSU.
Can't complain with that ranking. If our guys play like they did Saturday night the rest of the way we will see UK back in the top 10 rather quickly.

Might have fallen more after that horrible loss to LSU but other teams also lost this past week so that helped us. Seems like one of those seasons where just about anyone can go out and lose, especially on the road.

Our numbers(RPI/SOS) are top 10. I believe we belong in the top 10, we have good wins. Yeah we had a bad game but it was a road game with a young team that responded on Saturday.

No complaints here. I think that's more than fair given our performance at LSU. Are closer to the UK team that played most of the first half against Ala, or the team that fell apart down the stretch at LSU? I tend to think we are closer to Ala in potential, but we're not there yet.

#13 in both after I discount SMU for a variety of reasons. Between these rankings and our RPI numbers we still look good for about a 3 seed or a 2 seed, which is exactly where I think we should end up by the end of the year.

Truth is we are a balance between the two. If our bigs get in foul trouble and Skal lays an egg, we are a LOT like the team that played at LSU.

Luckily we had a road game after the LSU debacle where Poythress and Lee showed up. Showed that this team may not be top 5 right now but not absolute garbage with no frontcourt like how we appeared at LSU.

The question is what happens when Poy and/or Lee get into foul trouble? We have no contingency plan at present if that happens sadly. That will happen in one of our first 3 NCAA Tourney games (assuming we make the Sweet 16 at all), so I hope we develop a plan before then or we flame out in a double digit loss most likely.

Hard to complain about anything other than possibly having Virginia a spot ahead of us in both polls, considering they lost both games played since the last poll and have the same number of losses as we do. Splitting hairs I guess.

I expected it to be a lot worse - agree that it the pollsters are being kind; or the blowout win on the road mitigated the blowout loss greatly. Also, teams ahead of us lost as well, so that did help some.
I can live with it

I think the way we looked and played on a national televised game (LSU) with a lot of media attention hurt us big time. Yes, we were way above Alabama but they are not exactly a highly ranked team. Right now, if we can win the majority of our games we can work our way back to a 2 or 3 seed. We need all wins and beating Kansas on their home court now to get to a number 1 seed again. As good as Poy was against Bama, he would not get those looks as easy against a big front line talented team. So, hopefully we continue to see improvement across the board.

I don't understand how it's being friendly to have UK ranked in the top 15, our numbers suggest we should be in the top 10.

Teams lose games, Saturday made up for Tuesday night. We have a very solid resume right now and are headed in the right direction. This team is young but talented, should be ranked around 9th or 10th right now.

What numbers? Kenpom uses the teams "numbers" and has Kentucky at #18.

Our RPI is 9 and SOS is 8

Those numbers, mixed with our multiple top 25 and top 50 wins.

Virginia lost both of their games last week and is ranked ahead of us.

Splitting hairs. UVA was ranked 4th, we were ranked 9th. They lost 2, we got blown out and then blew out a weak Bama team. I agree with the rankings and I see no reason to complain about UVA being ahead of us, we looked REALLY bad on ESPN last Tuesday night in prime time. The Bama win does not cancel that out.

That's also true, I was just saying that teams are going to lose some games on the road. I made an example with Virginia losing 2 games in one week.

Like I said, we have good wins and good numbers. I think this team should be ranked higher but it's all good. Just keep winning...
