This loss hurts! No doubt about the way the game played out. I can't say I'm surprised, I can hear in the locker room, or pre game, how Calipari told his players how he was crucified for being the Kentucky coach. This is year one of Pope's coaching career at Kentucky. I dont have one doubt in my mind that he will go down as one one of Kentucky's greatest coaches! This guy loves Kentucky! Give him a couple of years to recruit his own players, or transfer players, give him couple of years to change the culture of what Kentucky basketball should be! Kentucky basketball is for the fans, the one's who listened to the radio when they were 14 back on the 70's. I'm telling you all, Pope has the drive, and love for Kentucky basketball, to succeed in making Kentucky basketball the best in the country! Calipari may win a game or two, because he has the best players, in the long term, the best players don't make a team! At the end of the season, Kentucky will be in the tournament. and Arkansas will be losing to Randolph Morris in the NIT!

To love Kentuck and Kentucky basketball is essential for any KY coaches. Sadly, loving the school does not make any coach a sure fire wonderful winning coach. I truly like Pope, but if he can't assemble a team with grit and determination to play hard nose defense, I have major concerns. Today's game and officiating will and does allow contact. We must teach our kids that defense can and will travel and offense does not always travel. To win road games in any conference, a rugged defense is essential. Will or can Pope do this? I think and hope he can. If not we will be having a coaching search in year 4.
