Kentucky at TCU (Sunday)

Lee gets a strikeout for out number two. Big strikeout there to help try to keep this guy at second from beating them for another run. Another strikeout! Both of those were looking. Big time outs by Lee. Kid has some strong stuff. Like most young pitchers he just has to limit the mistake pitches and he can be solid.

HBP against Collett and then Harmon grounds into a 5-4-3 double play before Kessler flies out to center.

Middle of the lineup is a whole lot of terrible right now.

Lee made a mistake pitch and it got hammered but it looks like he settled back in and made some good pitches to finish the inning. That is a good sign for the future. He didn't fold as a freshman.

This Rodgers kid is a Wildcat killer. A home run for him to right this time. Mashed it.

So, Lee has done well, but like I said, he is a freshman and will make those mistake pitches.

A grounder past the diving Grace. Then a thrown away attempt at a pickoff play advances the runner. 7th error on UK this weekend. Defense is amazing.

Comebacker hangs up the runner at second and he trades places with the hitter as he gets in a run down, but UK gets their first out of the inning.

Lineout to right advances the runner but gives UK out number 2. Grounder to third is routine for the last out.

8-2 going to the 7th.

Shelby having an awful weekend. He check swing strikes out to start the 7th. Rhodes then hits it pretty hard but right at third on the ground for out 2. Shepherd is a black hole over there.

Hill came in to pinch hit but grounds out to first to end the inning.

Golda gets his first UK at bat and hits a little dribbler up the third base line that goes for an infield hit. Schultz then looks at strike three, but it was a very well placed pitch that would be tough to swing at and even tougher to get a stick on.

Ole Miss looking to take the series from the Louisville Cardinals now up 7-4 in the bottom of the 7th.

Get the 9 hole batter on with an infield single and then take a called third strike (again).

Get the 9 hole batter on with an infield single and then take a called third strike (again).

Make that back to back called strike threes. Gotta say, both of those were just great pitches though. Not like Game 1 strikeouts that were inside pitches that you have to at least offer at. These were outside corner, low and away.

New pitcher for TCU.

Collett seems so uncomfortable when facing breaking balls. I don't know why anyone throws him anything but breaking balls. Regardless, he gets a 3-1 fastball and sends it into the gap in right center for a single. A breaking ball then gets away from the TCU catcher and everyone moves up 90 feet with 2 outs.

Big chance here for Harmon.

Great at bat for Harmon as he battles and he hits one back up the middle to plate both runs. Well done. 9-4 now.

Harmon one of the big bright spots today, knocking in 3 of our 4 runs.

Kessler continues to struggle as he swings at one in the dirt for the third strikeout of the inning. UK gets a couple of runs thanks to three hits in the inning. Showing a bit of life, but just 3 outs to make up 5 runs.

Ron Cole now on the mound for UK. Gives up a line drive up the middle for a single to lead off the bottom of the 8th. Rodgers again. He is having a monster weekend.

Cole balks to advance the runner to second. Cole then gives up a walk. Grounder to second trades an out to move up the runners 90 feet.

Of note, Golda is now in the game over at short.

Big mistake here by UK defense... pop fly to left and Cam Hill camps under it. He throws it in to third, but no one is there. Hill was going there, I think, to make sure the runner at second doesn't tag up to third. Rhodes not being there meant the ball got away and the runner moved up anyway.

10-4

UK now going to Will Gambino.

We weren't competitive at all this weekend. I hope we can show more at home. They didn't respect our arms in the outfield, tagging up at third on a short fly to left center. And we didn't try to throw it home so they were right not to respect it.

Shelby starts the UK 9th with a single to left. He's now 2-11 in the series. Rhodes lines one to third and for once Shepherd cannot make the play and it goes off his glove into shallow right. Shelby moves to third and Rhodes moves to second.

Cam Hill batting again with runners on. New pitcher is throwing it 97mph. Got to have quick hands on this guy. Slider coming in at 90mph. Hill gets hit by a pitch and Hill exchanges words with the pitcher and the umpire goes out to keep things under control.

Bases juiced for UK. Golda now up and going to take a minute to talk to Guilliams.

Mingione now talking to the home plate umpire and Anu is going to come in and pinch hit for Golda.

Anu grounds one to second and it goes as a fielder's choice, but it scores a run and makes 10-5. Could have been a double play, but Rhodes got it stuck in his glove over at second and couldn't get it out in time to get Anu.

Schultz now up with the lineup flipped. He is also hit with a pitch, this one between the shoulder blades and the bases are once again loaded. Just one out here. TCU coach out to talk to the pitcher and to try to settle it down. A big swing here and UK is back in this thing. TCU bullpen waking up. Daniel needs a big stick. Don't have to get it back with one swing, but keep the rally alive.

Line drive right back to the pitcher that is snagged by the pitcher and he doubles off Schultz to end the game.

Cats get swept, being outscored 23-7 over three games.

UK plays again at Kentucky Proud this Tuesday at 4:00pm against Southeast Missouri State

How many errors today?

3 for a total of 9 (should be 10) this weekend.

.917 was our fielding percentage coming into the game today. Last year we were dead last in the SEC with a .963 fielding percentage. So, we're well below that to start off the year.

That .963 was by far the worst fielding percentage in the SEC. No other team had a fielding percentage worse than .971.

Some damning stats from the weekend.

-UKs team era: 7.13
- 9 errors
- struck out 25 times but TCU struck out 23 times.
- 17 walks given up by the staff

I have more but now I’m sad.

I’m not sure to be honest. I watched the first two games through the TCU feed. They had each team listed in the top right hand corner with the current score. They had TCU number 20. You’d have to ask them.

Ahh. D1 baseball doesn't have them ranked. Couldn't find them ranked anywhere.
