First pitch tonight at 7:00 Eastern. On the mound for TAMU should be Brigham Hill (1.40) and for UK we should see Sean Hjelle (7.06). These teams are going to be pretty evenly matched this weekend with both of them coming in statistically having strong hitting and strong pitching.

The pitching will have to be strong tonight if UK wants to get the better of Hill. Hill has only given up 4 earned runs on the season and has struck out 31 hitters in 25.2 innings of work. Hopefully Hjelle rises to that challenge and keeps the ball down and keeps TAMU hitters off balance. Either that, or the UK hitters prove that their hitting is good against anyone. Either way will be fine. haha

On another note, I have what I consider to be a moral dilemma. An old boss of mine gave me tickets to the South Carolina at Tennessee series this weekend. The tickets are pretty nifty because they are VIP tickets that allow you to get access to free food and drinks. I was thinking about going tonight for at least a few innings and the moral dilemma is whether or not I should take my daughter. She is 6 months old and this would be her first baseball game. Should I really make my daughter's first baseball game a Tennessee game? Is that unethical as a Kentucky fan and a father?

Put a UK hat and shirt on her and enjoy the VIP treatment......

Well, I plan to go, and wear UK gear, regardless. It is just a question of whether I bring my daughter or have my parents babysit for a few hours.

UK dodges a bullet in bottom of 2nd. Mahan with a throwing error on a very routine play, next batter he goes far to his left and throws out a runner on a tough play.

Cats get another run in the 3rd, Marshall leads off with a single, is sacrificed to 2nd, and Reks drives him in. 2-0 Cats bottom of 3rd.

Hope the Mahan bobble on the tailor made double play ball doesn't cost us. Luckily it didn't.

3-0 good guys! Squires with the RBI single. Then Marshall hit one right down the third base line for a double to make it 5-0!!! We ran the ace!!!

I think Collette may come in to hit this inning. I think they have someone else coaching 1st.

Jelly man with a complete game shutout to win the opening game of the SEC schedule! 9 strikeouts and he was just sick nasty! 2 strikeouts to end the game. Amazing performance!!!

QUESTION..... When Evan White returns, does that mess with the team chemistry. I think the other Cats are locked in more, without their offensive leader, and could relax when he returns.
Now of course we are a better team with one of College baseball's best players in our lineup, but him being in, then out, then back in and then out is a little distracting.
Thoughts.......

Love the way we are playing...I know it's the old iffin game, but this team has been in every game we have played until the last at bat and could easily have a much better record...

I see what you're saying. It's very encouraging the team is hitting and playing defense well without Evan, but there's no way you don't play him if he's healthy.

Yes, he is another real good bat in the line up, from the right side as well. Just hope Marshall gets some ab's whether playing 3rd, or DH at times, when Evan returns.
With 2 switch hitters in Pompey and Becker, really like our line up from both sides of the plate.
