Kentucky at Auburn (Game 2)

Daniels gets a K. Then gives up a 4 pitch walk. This is the kid that got the home run in the last AB.

Howell is the hitter. He's 4-7 on the weekend. Daniels falls behind 3-1 and then walks him. 2 outs 6-4.

Ward first pitch swinging. That slider against lefties is just nasty. Another swing at it. Ward isn't seeing it well, IMO. Yep... swings at another slider, this one way outside and Cole gets out of the mess. 6-4 going to the 8th.

New pitcher for Auburn. Collett struck out and Harmon swings early and pops up to first. Kessler finally gets out as he grounds out to second.

Daniels back out again. Stand up double to left leads this off. It was lined over Collett into the corner. Lucky it didn't hurt more than that as Rhodes had some trouble with it.

UK going to the bullpen. Strickland coming in to pitch. Auburn also going to PH.

Auburn's Cam Hill coming to the plate. He's both a pitcher and a hitter. Just a freshman. He works a 3-0 count. Walked him. The low pitch at the knees just isn't a strike today.

Hall up, another PH. He's squaring to bunt. Strickland not hitting the strike zone often.

Hall puts down the sac and advances the runners. Strickland does his job and gets the out. 1 out, runners at 2nd and 3rd.

Bliss back up. Strickland still not real comfortable on the mound.

Ugh... Stickland gets ahead but the 2 hole hitter battled and he just swatted one away into right to score both runners. 6-6 now.

Strickland threw a good pitch on that, but should have changed the location. Went away too many times. Needed to come inside and change levels.

He gets a K to end the 8th.

6-6 going to the 9th.

Church grounds out to short. Nice play by Bliss. Estep got in a good battle but lined out right at center. Got a good stick on it. Ritter swinging early and he takes a 1-1 pitch and grounds to third, but Auburn can't make the play on such a slow grounder.

Schultz finally gets off the slump and goes the other way and lines it into right to put them on the corners.

Well the bullpen better be better than it has been. We've only got 1 run to play with.

Cats probably got a bit of luck on the Anu hit. The pitch before Anu clearly offered at and no umpire saw it. So instead of 1-2 he had 2-1. Got a better pitch that he chopped past short to give UK the lead.

Strickland going to stay in. UK still not pitching much if at all to Miller. He finally gets a strike on 3-0. Leadoff walk.

Howell up again. Strickland blew a FB past him. Then Howell tries to lay down a delayed bunt. He pops up for a strike. Strikeout. Big time K.

Ward takes first on an HBP. Not sure if it did but him, but he sold it.

Runners on first and second. One out. Ohh my... Williams raked one but foul. He turned on that and it was moving. Good pitch by Strickland going inside, but then I think he got away with one that popped foul. 6 pitches so far in this battle. 7th evens it up. Good pitch. He has gone away with the changeup twice but it's just a touch outside. Fastball fouled off again. Strikeout. High fastball.

Roszel coming out. Strickland telling him to stay away. Lol 'No coach. No coach.' Roszel leaves him in.

I like that kind of fight in Strickland. No deer in the headlights look, just fierce competitiveness. Now it has to be justified and it appears that it was.
