Well we have to do much better hitting the ball today. Brown did a great job yesterday, but had little to no support. Kentucky had to give him some help, but really did nothing to help.
Here is the lineup. Don't like McNeill hitting third, but like that we moved Shelby down. I think McNeill should be hitting fourth and Reks should be third. Shelby is okay at 5th.
I wonder what kind of batting average Mahan would have if it weren't for him hitting 4th early in the season.
UK threatened with a runner on third, but couldn't get him home. That is the kind of opportunity we cannot let go by. Wilson gets a leadoff double and then we can do nothing to score him.
A base hit for Vandy, but then Shelby does what Shelby does and throws away a routine throw to second to get runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs rather than giving UK at least one out.
Henderson is an idiot. UK down 1-0 in the top of the 7th. Hairston gets a line drive down the line for a double. Rather than bunt Hairston over with Mahan he chooses to swing away. Mahan struck out. Luckily Hairston moved up with a wild pitch on a 2-2 count. Cottam walked to put runners on first and third with one out.
Left the bases loaded in the top of the 8th. Still can't get a timely hit. Our pitching deserves this win but our hitting does not. Still 6 outs to go.
Vandy does what UK can't and they get a hit with runners in scoring position and take the lead. This off of Strecker who started the inning. Still just one out with runners at second and first.
Really annoying. Henderson pinch runs for McNeil and puts in Carson. Then in the 9th he puts in Arnold, who hasn't faced a live pitcher since March 30th, and hasn't faced SEC pitching all year. He is just setting him up to fail in a situation like that.
