Nice boost from tonight. Still a ways to go, but a 20+ point jump is big. If we could get this up into the 50's I'd feel pretty good going into the tournament.

In any sport, I LOVE getting a 2nd chance at a team that beat us (and conversely hate when a team plays us again after beating them the 1st time). I know Tennessee is at home for this one, and it won't be easy. But we are clearly getting better by the game. And I don't believe that Tennessee is progressing at the rate we our. You take Knect out of the game by running Adou all over him, and you have a pretty good chance.
Before the Ole Miss game the defense was 125. So it's jumped 44 spots in two games. If this pattern keeps up we'll have the number 1 defense in the country five or six games from now.
Whole season cumulative metrics don't account for the fact that UK has 3 mid-season additions. All of them 7' or more. So, suddenly the team had to play vastly differently than they'd been preparing for.

Which is why the “top 25 in both” stat is so misleading when it’s taken after the tournament and not going into the tournament. If you beat 4+ quality teams back to back while others are losing around you…you’re likely to climb into the top 25 in both.
That isn’t to say it isn’t a useful guideline but the reality is the overall metric is more useful as a game by game predictor. The rest takes care of itself if you just keep winning.

I think Dauster from Field of 68 said that the 2015 Duke team was terrible defensively (around 75th) late in the season and turned it around down the stretch. Doesn't really matter what you are on the season, if you get hot at the right time.
