If UofL doesn't get the death penalty what chance do you think Kenny Payne could end up there?
Also "IF" that did happen how would you feel about UofL then? I personally didn't have that much HATE for UofL until Pitino went there and scummed it up. I liked Denny Crum and thought the rivalry was more fun back then. I think if Payne took the job he would have time during the probation years to build the program from the ground up his way and have a chance to set his own legacy at the school he played for.
Thoughts?

Highly doubtful. I don’t know the way he thinks but he’s got arguably the best assistant job in the country. I can’t see him leaving for a school about to get hammered. Even if it is his alma mater.

I think we can never go back to a fun rivalry. pintino going there really embolden their fans to be the most annoying d-bags on the planet. and I don't think that attitude is gonna change. I cant really see any coach that is just not desperate to take that job, I mean 2 scandals break wide open in the same year.

Even without the death penalty, IMO, Loserville is looking at multiple post-season bans, many recruiting restrictions, multiple scholarship reductions for years. I don't know if that is the opportunity he is looking for. I feel it will be a temporary job for someone to work through the hardship, don't know if it fits for Payne.

Why would he go to a school that's going on probation for a long time and has to compete against UNC and Duke?

I realize it's his Alma Mater, but I can't see him leaving UK for that dumpster fire.

I think it's quite possible. Although I would expect them to go for someone with HC experience first. But if he were offered, you have to think he would accept. 1) it is his alma mater; 2) it would not only be a HC job, and not only a major conference HC job, but a historically top 10 program HC job.

I just hope, that if he were to get that job, that UK fans would not be critical of him for that. In fact I could see that maybe creating a more civil rivalry between the two schools (fans), because I don't see him inciting the hatred from UL fans that Pitino did.

Plus the std tests they all need to take.

Cal has said for years he tells his assistants to only take a job at a school that is near the top of their conference. You could make that argument for UL a week ago, you can't make it today. When the dust settles it's going to take years before they even get back to the level of Virginia, Syracuse, NC State, etc. It's a big leap from there to UNC, Duke, and even Notre Dame.
