Mitch is slow.. probably Kenny Payne.. but if Karter Knox picks UL tomorrow, then maybe they keep him.. fingers crossed for that.

Yeah I don’t see Mitch giving up on her. He’s very patient. Abhors coaching searches. I think he’ll give her another year.

What pisses me off is we obviously don’t care about making our women’s program elite and we should. This basketball crazy town and state should be the best in anything round all related. There’s no way top women’s coaches don’t look at the situation here, with most sports excellent, and don’t think they could be the founder that completes the pie. We obviously don’t try to make it happen and I’ll never understand why.
Women’s softball is excellent. Women’s Tennis is excellent. Women’s volleyball is elite. Great men’s basketball program and most fanatical basketball fans in the state, yet our women’s team can’t get it going. I just don’t believe the administration cares for some reason, it should be easy to make it happen.

Elzy sounded pretty confident in her post-game presser after the UT game . Talked about hitting the portal and next yrs team and who’s back . Said she expected to be here, to the point you got the vibe she knew as much. After spending the $80 Mil on the facilities …which won’t be completed 100% by fall , just enough to play in memorial…I wouldn’t put it past them to ride out one more year, get the buyout down less and see what happens next March and pull the trigger if warranted then. It is a non-revenue sport
That’s because we don’t prioritize it. We love basketball especially here in Lexington. Had Pat Summit made UK basketball elite we’d all care.
Im not in love with women’s basketball but there’s no reason a place like UK doesn’t dominate women’s CBB.
One issue is there’s just not enough good players to make any more than a handful of schools elite . Once schools with more money and resources got going , former powers like Old dominion and La Tech became average or below. To rise , someone else has to fall . Tennessee is finding that out now …even UCONN a little bit . There’s no such thing as 1991 Kentucky men where you pound guys into shape , and ride a system to an SEC title . There’s no ‘Hoosiers’ story . Also, the difference between a #1 team like S Carolina and whoever the #25 team is right now might be 30-40 on a given night …
It will be KP. Mitch doesn’t care enough about women’s sports to make the move. He should have never given her an extension in the first place. I hope I’m wrong. She seems to be a nice person, but she’s a terrible coach.

KP is a basketball man. If anyone doubts KP's coachibg skills, ask KAT and Kevin Knox. I have talked with KP. He is a terrific gentleman. I am surprised he hasn't had success. But UL's athletics department was in the dumper when he got there and you can't win without a good roster. If given enough time, KP would be successful. But he isn't going to make it there.
Elzy can coach, but she can't recruit. Her teams play hard on the defensive end, but she just isn't able to bring in enough SEC talent.
Payne is let go likely within 48 hrs of their ACC tourney loss .
Idk about Elzy…roster of Rhyne Howard , Robyn Benton , Jasmine Massengale, Dreuna Edwards, Jada Walker in 2021/22 was 19-12 / 8-8 in SEC and needed unlikely sec tourney to get in NCAA. Then were upset by underdog Princeton in Rd 1.
Lady Cats season is over already so guessing Elly gets it first. But who knows what MB is thinking. Might sign her to a lifetime contract. 😉😆
I would guess KP. Women’s basketball is an afterthought at UK. Men’s basketball is hemorrhaging money at UofL and they depend on that lost revenue to operate, especially because they’ve been paying coaches to not coach there for several years.
Women’s ball is so inconsistent it’s crazy. Indiana women have been really good and they go out and lose their first B1G game like the men always do.

Mitch has got to see what’s going on, they are terrible and small crowds this year will be even smaller next. I don’t see much of a change with the two recruits we have coming in for next year. It’s not good, coaches need to earn contracts, not be given extensions based on a couple of games.
Hearing Cronin to the ville and UCLA will come hard after Cal. He would most likely go and take his recruits and some current players. Similar to what he did to Memphis.

I don’t follow Women’s BB so I have no idea who could / should replace Elzy, but IMO she needs to be relieved of her duties.
I like KP but his performance as UL HC has been woeful, but that’s their problem not ours.
I don’t think Louisville wants Cronin and the interest is being put out there by his people . Same with Cronin to Ohio State (another rumor). The deal is Cronin has a $20mil buyout if another team wants him and he wants that out of his contract , and feels it should be since they’re going to the Big 10 and circumstances have changed so much. Don’t look for either OSU or UL to hire him.
Hire the Transy women's coach. She's won like 60 in a row. She knows what she's doing. Get some recruiting assistants and we are set.
