Some entity needs to fix pay for play. 10 mil for a qb recruit is insane. The whole pay for play needs to stop.
I'm actually okay with it.
10 million for a QB means not so much left over for everyone else who will inevitably hit the portal. That's how the playing field evens out.
I think what we're seeing in SEC will become a lot more common. People are all excited/upset/worried about so many teams being right there in the hunt and a couple may get left out.
That's the direct result of talent spreading out.
Instead of 2 maybe 3 teams being the clear cream of the crop because they can just attract and hoard all the talent solely on history/tradition/pomp and circumstance, now that there's come money involved it actually makes things fairer and more competitive.
Two programs in every conference can make the big dog pitch. That's why we essentially saw the same teams in the 4 team playoffs and upper tier NY6 bowls.
Those programs dominated basically the entire history of CFB because of their depth. Kids would go sit around and hold a clipboard and play special teams for 2,3,4 years. Kids with starter and even superstar potential who could do something at other places.
That isn't the case anymore. UGA, OSU, Bama, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Penn State, etc...role players, backups, are going elsewhere.
That cuts the gap two ways. One, like I said, overall depth from the side of the big dog. Two, programs a tier or even two down from big dogs are getting guys who can play.
