Kansas loses again. Kentucky all-time wins lead remains at +7.

This is a stop-gap season for Pope. I'm absolutely thrilled that the Big 12 continues to pummel Kansas to buy Pope some time to implement his system and eventually widen the all-time wins lead.

It’s awesome! Speaking of spending money for the portal does Walter Clayton have any eligibility after this year because we should back channel offer that dude 2 million to transfer here next year if so.

Unfortunately the way things look UK will lose the all time wins eventually. The SEC has made it a priority to be better in basketball meanwhile the big 12 continues to get weaker. Unless Kansas moves to a stronger conference that is.

The SEC is one of the strongest conferences across an individual season ever. No doubt.

It will be interesting to see if we can maintain this level of success. We certainly have the coaches. Can we continue to get the players?

The Big 12 is set up really well too, though.

Houston, Arizona, Texas Tech, Baylor and Kansas have been good teams for years.

Iowa State has been really solid of late, and Otzelberger seems like a great young coach.

BYU's HC is best friends with the Utah Jazz owner and will have insane NIL.

WVU just hired Devries who seems like a good coach.

K State has been good under Tang, way down this year, but they've won 5 in a row including Iowa State and Kansas.

Their bottom 5 or 6 teams are definitely weaker than the SEC's bottom 5 or 6 teams. But I think we continue to see CBB as a whole elevate.

This was the year to catch UK. Pope's first year feeling it all out.

I believe Kansas will take a hit next year with Harris and Dickinson leaving (although I never know who has some added eligilibity).. while I don't love either player, it's still going to sting, especially early on as Self maneuvers a new starting roster.

Meanwhile, next years UK teams and the ones after really can't be much worse in terms of talent or experience with Pope and players, than it is right now. This is the worst we will be IMO.

Kansas needs to win the title this year or this race is over. Self starting to catch some heat, Kansas recruiting to continues to underwelm.. all momentum and buzz with Pope and UK. We will gain on them next year. The only thing stopping that is if the SEC is a monstrous powerhouse next year.. but I suspect there will be some regression.

On a good note, Self just turned 63. Between the Botox and the hair piece, you'd never know it. You have to wonder how many more years he wants to do this.

Certainly, it's Kansas. They'll eventually get a good coach. The tough part: guys aren't leaving their Power 5 jobs for Blue blood jobs like they used to. There was a time 15, 20, 30 years ago, there wasn't a coach on the planet that says no to Alabama football, Kentucky basketball, etc.

Now we saw Alabama have to search around a bit. Kentucky went through Drew and Hurley.

Hopefully their replacement search is rocky and the 1st coach doesn't work out. Maybe we can create some breathing room then.

I suspect Kansas might be in a similar situation to Kentucky.. bit exactly desirable locations nor are they programs with a ton of money it seems. But Kansas is even worse.. not only is it in Kansas lol.. but they weren't even getting the recruits WITH Self.

They got very lucky to go from Roy Williams right to Bill Self.. I don't suspect that luck to continue. Seems likely to me they will go through at least one coaching change before we do.. but I wouldnt be surprised if it was 2 or even 3 coaching changes..

We have 4 name schools that will probably be looking for a new coach in the next 5 years:

North Carolina
Kansas
Indiana (already announced)
Michigan St

One of them will probably get Oats and I bet Golden will be in the crosshairs of another. Everyone is thinking Beard to IU but who knows. There are going to be several shakeups coming years.

I definitely see next year sec taking a step back!

I think Buzz Williams might be a target as well!
And I have to wonder how much longer Barnes coaches. I actually think he might retire. Nil is a complete different ball game. One I think BBN hasn't figured out yet, and if we don't step up to the plate, we will decline as a program! I hate it, but it seems to be a fact!

Mich ST. Buzz Williams would be a good fit IMO!
