after today's lack luster attempt to win at a virtual UK home game, how worried are you to see us against Kansas? Do they beat us by 30? Any chance we go in there and shock them?

The Duke version of the UK team makes it a competitive game (Cats still lose). UCLA or OSU version and KU wins by 25+.

Don't see a scenario currently where UK can win this game. KU is significantly better at this point. As of now I would bet the spread would be 8-10 for KU

Cal knows that will be a key game to win since our conference looks weak. Look for us to come prepared for the W.

Doesn't look good. Seldon is hitting from the outside this year.

Perry will actually be the toughest guy in the paint that game...sad.

It's not looking good, but everybody even the coach thought we might lose a few, I hope only a few, we will see

High profile game will motivate our guys but that's the problem , I don't think they considered ucla or osu high profile because of ranking and previous play . Youth and a lack of leadership has led to that approach , some more losses will get their attention eventually . Look how we played Duke , big game atmosphere and it was one of our best outings . It's been somewhat of a theme in the Cal era , it's not Cals fault but a product of our system and makeup of our roster .

You remind me of Michael Jordan - so good at basketball, but just as bad in football as he was baseball. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I was worried about this game when it was first announced and well before our weaknesses were made abundantly clear.

Just like with UCLA, there are a lot of KU players that remember the beatdown we gave them last season and will be out to avenge that against a group of players that don't even know why they're mad, and they'll have the benefit of getting to play us in front of their home fans that are completely ate up with how UK has owned them in the Cal era.

I expect that game to not end well for us.

.Unless Cal can get a inside game going with this team and keep the ball in Ulis hands more and quit taking so many jump shots this team is going to lose several games..

Fortunately that game is 5 plus weeks away.
We will be a totally different team by then.
I doubt it. Can't make us have an inside game, we have nobody going to do anything down low, we just don't. Can't make seniors hold onto the ball, after 4 years and still he doesn't. Can't make us rebound better. Shooting will come and go. This team is just not good, face reality. Skal is bad and will never be great. Poythress disappears all the time. Briscoe can't shoot and can't penetrate against good teams. Murray is a star who needs polished. Ulis isn't the guy we all thought, he can't shoot and can't play D against big guards with talent. Lee is good but makes a ton of mistakes. We have nobody else who can dribble a ball or shoot a ball.

We may get trounced, but this is a very young team that is still a bit unsure about their game. The Phog is tough on everyone. A loss, even a big one, has little relevance to the rest of the season.

If we win at Kansas it will be an upset, but that was always going to be the case.

We have plenty to worry about between now and then.We aren't the team that most of us thought we would be.We have played 11 games and it is becoming evident who and what we are and are not.

Skal will get better but it may not be this season or at UK when he does, Briscoe isn't going to hit 70% of his FT's or be a good shooter from outside, Lee is never going to have any offense other than catching a lob for a dunk, he is a wonderful athlete but not a basketball player, Alex is a mix of a 3 and a 4 but not accomplished at either well enough to carry a team at crunch time.

Ulis will give us all he has but against big guards with skill he can't overcome his height disadvantage, Murray will get his and thereby keep us in games but he is a streak shooter more than a pure shooter. Evidently Cal doesn't feel that there is currently anyone on the bench that can change things enough to get them major minutes, he sees them everyday so you have to think he is correct.

The team played hard yesterday, they took some ill advised shots in the first half partly because they couldn't get better ones. When the other team shoots well we don't have enough offensive firepower to keep up so we find ourselves in a hole. we made a run but if you are that far down everything has to go near perfect if you are to get all the way back. We will find ourselves in that position several more times this season.

This is just a terrible post.

It's all true.

Which makes it terrible.

Briscoe could start hitting FT's but no sign of improvement yet. Tyler could start making shots.

Not sure you can coach up a personality (Poy and Skal), bad hands (Poy and Lee), or overall toughness.

We have no Julius Randle to lean on like 2014.

We have no leader with star skills like Knight, reliable shooter like Lamb, toughness like Jones, Jorts, and Liggins or maturity like Miller and Liggins and Jorts as we did in 2011.

We have Murray who can make some shots but is a very incomplete player at this time.

My biggest concern is that we do not have the old "well we are playing bad, at least have _________" this year.

Yep. Even Florida, supposedly really down, fought and kept it close at Michigan State.

Hard to see us winning but hard to see them laying 30 on us. Frankly, UK is going to get tested at a lot of places on the road in the SEC.

I dont even know if I'm going to end up watching that game. Kansas will win by 20 easily.

Before the season started, I thought this was a pick-em and Kansas would win a tight one at home by a handful of points. Now, I think Kansas is going to do to Kentucky what we did to UCLA. Although, the game is still a ways off and Kentucky is going to get better, I just don't see you getting better when your guards struggle to his shots and your bigs struggle to score in the paint.

Only thing for sure is that you guys will flame out in the tournament...

I think KU wins but I think it will be close. UK has a lot of talent and youth and all the pressure is on us. If KU has a bad shooting night I fear it will be close and close is dangerous. Freaking Harvard tested us at home.

Not sure if we would win there this year even with the team we had last season. That said, we could be very competitive or get completely blown away as this group of freshmen have proven to be very inconsistent, which is normally the case with young players. I look for a KU win but it may be closer than what one thinks.

We will be the sacrificial lamb at Kansas I kinda dread it I keep having flashbacks to that 150-95 loss during Pitinos first year here. With the 30 second clock no way to slow it down which hate to even say because thats what teams have always done to us, maybe the driving lanes will be open and Briscoe can get to the rim and finish. I have never been impressed with Perry Ellis but that Thompson kid from OSU looked like a NBA allstar the other day

The 150-95 loss was a personal vendetta from a pissed off Ah Shucks Williams vs. an Askinforit Pitino. That won't happen again, even if it could, which I don't think it can. It would also be really stupid to poke the bear when it could come back to haunt us as quickly as next year.

The SEC is weak. South Carolina is undefeated because they played a weaker schedule than Louisville and Vanderbilt is showing serious cracks. A&M is okay but fringe top 25. Don't overvalue the conference, there has been some good wins for the SEC but also some really bad losses. Compared to other conferences the SEC is not looking so good.

Anyone that has a pulse keeps it close with Michigan State. I think that's part of Izzo's plan, keep the other team close for as long as possible. Yes they have blown some teams out this year but like I said, any team that has a pulse will keep it close.

No, I'm not worried. The game is almost a month and a half away.

Some of you are like little girls. Have some pride.

My only hope is that Calipari figures this team out by then. If he can get the offense figured out the defense will follow. When we constantly go down and brick shots our defense is always on its heels but if he can get the O figured out we might have a shot. We have too much talent to keep going the direction we're going.
