Kansas Freshman PT

You go with who gives you the best chance to win the game. Ellis>>>>>>Diallo/Bragg. No doubt those two will be able to help Kansas wins games this year. It's just that last night KU needed every bit they could get out of Ellis/Selden/Graham/Mason. That leaves 1 spot to get in there and play. Lucas finished with 5 pts and 8 boards and Jamari Traylor posted 6 points and 4 boards. That helped make up for Mikkelson who just wasn't in his element in that game. So, KU's bench bigs combined for 11 points and 12 boards. In that game KU needed it's most experienced players to beat Oklahoma's best and most experienced players. I'd expect Cal to play our best players in games like that as well.

Let me google that for you should be reserved for questions about easily attainable facts. Not the best use of it.
Yeah. That was pretty pathetic. Even with that google search I'm not sure what information he was trying to find.

Johnson averaged over 14 mins/game his freshman year and started after WCS went down. I'll give ya Lee.
didn't Lee get the starting job briefly, before WCS did, but got really sick (or he was injured)? I know there was something going on there, but can't quite remember

To add to my earlier point, KU having Ellis would be like UK keeping DJ this season. If DJ was back how much would Skal even play at this point? He already isn't playing a ton. DJ would have owned Skal in practice and outplayed him in games so again...KU has a reliable upper-classman type while UK does not so they still have to play Skal some in the hopes of him improving a ton by March so we have a shot at glory.

KU loses last night without him.

Also if a KU fan told you Bragg would be playing the 3 this year he is really dumb and should have been ignored.

last nights win is basically meaningless. but that is the difference between cal and self. for self...its winning the big 12 title. for cal...its about developing players for march to make a run.

cal could have skal do pick and rolls all game long...but that doesnt make him better. cal throws him the post to get him tougher. which will pay off down the road.

playing laden lucas over guys who come march could be a real difference maker for ku, against good teams...short sighted. benefits self though.

Moe like having Erik Daniels in his 20 year of eligibility. :grimace:

There is something to be said for this. Self recruits OAD guys but they have to compete for playing time, there aren't guarantees. Wiggins and Embiid earned it. Diallo and Bragg haven't been able to do that apparently. But let's be clear, if Anthony Davis was on this team he'd be starting. Self doesn't hold kids back on purpose for some evil plan of robbing them of their NBA careers.

I can't help but notice something similar happening to Marcus Lee and Dakari Johnson their freshmen years.
Our guys earn it too, Cal's just really good at knowing which players will give us the best chance of going deep in the tourney and making sure they get developed. Self does it differently and it works in the regular season but not as well as Cal's way does for us in the tourney, which is always our end game objective.
