Just left MSG… we’re not good

And we literally have stopped looking for 3 point shots when we drive. And we absolutely SUCK driving. Need to drive & pass more & quit driving & throwing up crap shots.

We're still 20 points better than Ohio State, whenever the entire team decides to show up, and Mark Pope decides to try different line-ups that actually work when we look like ass.
I think so too . I
Hope two of our first three NCAA games are against Clemson and Ohio State .
problem Is I don’t c us ever beating Auburn .

Team just soft.
"Soft" teams don't come back to win from 18 down against Gonzaga in Seattle. We shot 17 for 57 and half the misses were at point blank range. Worst shooting game I can remember since the 13-53 against Georgetown in the 1984 Final Four and that team (with Bowie, Turpin, Walker and Winston Bennett) was not soft either. We were flat and had a bad outcome. Move on.

Looked soft to me..

It’s a weak roster. Unfortunately. But at least Cal isn’t on the sideline and we have a coach who beat Duke and Gonzaga with these limited dudes.
This right here. As of today I still believe Pope will watch film, analyze, and compare stats to correct what went down tonight.

Cal would have thrown out a cute “catch phrase” and told fans we’re being too harsh on the freshman he recruited and should put the blame on him.

I was there also
No fire
Pope had a bad night
Should have played Carr @ 5
Should have Zoned most of game we couldn’t guard the isolation from the elbow
We have a talent deficiency we need to Coach like we do
Team was lifeless.

Crowd couldn’t get into the game at all.

Can’t keep players in front of them.

Our players are older, but also soft.

There really isn’t an abundance of talent on this team that you can consistently count on.

Even watching the first game and seeing Ian Jackson hoop. Buddy simply pops on the court. We don’t have anyone like that.

Blah… we’re gonna go through hell during Conference play.
Since OSU was playing in the football playoffs, we’re there any OSU fans there at all ?

Is what it is. Overreaction generally outweighs reality. Maybe we aren't as good as team who beat Duke and Gonzaga or as bad as team who lost to Clemson and OSU.

Can tell you this, I'd rather our two losses be these than Duke and Zags.

Tough stretch too... I'm not trying to make an excuse here but maybe I/we downplayed how hard this was. @Clemson, RT across country after back to Lexington, beat Zags, back home and run two games in a week including our biggest rival...all while 2 guys get hurt; toss in finals week and a trip to MSG...that is a lot.

We will see what this team is truly made of soon enough.

Agree. Way too much overreacting on here. 10 days to adjust and modify.

Teams are trying to be overly physical. Coach Pope and staff will have to adjust. I believe they will.

Some guys roles may change. I do think that is likely.

Speaking of UNC, they’re going to run a 4 guard offense going forward. But half this board says we can’t move Carr to the 5.
Dudes are getting paid! It’s time to at least try a Butler, OO, Brea, Robinson, Carr starting 5!

Amari needs some sideline motivation, and Garrison is what he is, but brings energy and heart!

But that’s why Pope makes the big bucks, to figure these things out, and I believe he will.

Was really mad we ran chandler and Perry out there in a game we were obviously struggling with physicality. In a game where we already a deficit. Just not a good time for a hope and prayer . Honestly we should never be playing those 2 . Simply not ready to contribute.

Not many. And even the ones I was near were thinking about the football game.
I went with a OSU fan. And most of his interactions during the game with other fans were about the football game.

UNC had a lot of fans there. Then it was us.

Probably a lot of truth here. Or at least that’s my hope. The other issue is, the SEC is really effing good. If this statement is true, and I tend to think it’s the closest version of the truth we can currently agree on, it’ll get you somewhere around 8-10 conference losses.

Possibly. I also think this was a bit of an anomaly. We played really poorly all around last night. Even against Clemson we mounted a comeback and honestly would have likely won with Butler.

Last night was just bad.

I think we are still really good but obviously capable of putting up a total dud.

Now it boils down to what the staff and team learn from this. Have to move on quickly.

It is a change of expectation for all of these guys. None of them have been on a team that was ranked this high and had the target on their back. They thought they understood.

I think the weight of the program and expectations finally hit the players.
They are the hunted now … not the hunters. They play better as underdogs.

There’s a lot more film out on this team. Since the WKU game, teams have played us physical and it’s impacted our play. One of the worries was not having a guy who could get a bucket in tough times, that showed last night. This is a group that has to play as a team and stay with the gameplan. We don’t have the talent/athletes to just out play some teams.

I will say OSU had suffered their own bad losses and had their backs against the wall. They had some line up changes that gave them some new life, I’ll be curious if that sticks for them going forward. No excuses though, this UK team looked like they left Lexington already expecting the W.

It sucked, but I’m not going freak out over it. I do think think we will need to make some adjustments going into league play. I still think we are a 4-5 seed type team. This team has to be focused every game going forward, and that does fall on the staff, too.

This is also a challenge when you are filling a whole roster of portal kids. We had to have so many players, you were almost always going to get some who never had these kinds of expectations. This is why Lamont was so important at the beginning.

In future classes, I think Pope can hand pick 2-4 really high end portal players which will make it easier to zero in on some of the best, kids like Oweh and Garrison who have higher level of talent/athletic ability.

I think it shows how much this team needs to feed off the crowd and big game feels … go ahead and crucify me for that, you stubborn “crowd means nothing” folks …

UK has played to the level of competition and energy of the crowd the entire season. MSG was DEAD and the entire team played like it was a meaningless practice.

I think Kerr brought the energy to the team. I thought Butler and Carr could be that leader on the floor for the guys but I don’t think they GET IT the way we want them too.

Talent level in future years will be higher as Pope builds a program but I also think we’ll see more players that bleed blue and doesn’t take wearing the Kentucky jersey for granted. I’m afraid, these guys just don’t get it

I thought Clemson would have been the “eye” opening moment of “hey, this is Kentucky and everyone is bringing their A game against us” but we still look very nonchalant to start games since wku. If we can’t figure out how to defend a ball screen at 30ft, we are going to get blown out a lot on the road in the SEC.
