Team was lifeless.

Crowd couldn’t get into the game at all.

Can’t keep players in front of them.

Our players are older, but also soft.

There really isn’t an abundance of talent on this team that you can consistently count on.

Even watching the first game and seeing Ian Jackson hoop. Buddy simply pops on the court. We don’t have anyone like that.

Blah… we’re gonna go through hell during Conference play.

Speaking of UNC, they’re going to run a 4 guard offense going forward. But half this board says we can’t move Carr to the 5.

Wow. Duke, Gonzaga and every ranked team not in the SEC must really suck. Come on, man.

It was an embarrassing performance absolutely no adjustments at all. We let one player beat us.

Is what it is. Overreaction generally outweighs reality. Maybe we aren't as good as team who beat Duke and Gonzaga or as bad as team who lost to Clemson and OSU.

Can tell you this, I'd rather our two losses be these than Duke and Zags.

Tough stretch too... I'm not trying to make an excuse here but maybe I/we downplayed how hard this was. @Clemson, RT across country after back to Lexington, beat Zags, back home and run two games in a week including our biggest rival...all while 2 guys get hurt; toss in finals week and a trip to MSG...that is a lot.

We will see what this team is truly made of soon enough.

What bothers me most is the lack of effort on 50/50 balls and just getting their butts handed to them down low.

Overall failure of a performance that Pope and the team have to stew on 10 days until we play again.

I don’t think we’re terrible. I don’t think we’re a top 5 team.

I think Sweet 16 might be our ceiling. This team can beat anyone on any given night if our shots are falling. But we have a problem with high end athleticism and physicality. A spade is a spade.

I never expected to win the title in year 1.
I still think we’re ahead of schedule in rebuilding from literally nothing and am not giving up on these guys.

It’s a weak roster. Unfortunately. But at least Cal isn’t on the sideline and we have a coach who beat Duke and Gonzaga with these limited dudes.

True.

Tho I feel like if you have talent, you can overcome poor coaching (see Cal's first five years here).

Pope can only do so much here with this team. If you don't have the dogs, you don't have the dogs.

“We have problem with high end athleticism and physicality.”

Adou Thiero and Boogie Fland may go off. Aidoo and Brazillle may have their way. Davis might actually look good beating our guards off the dribble.

Only game we can’t lose and exactly the kind of team that can beat us.

Im afraid we may have to really hone up the old 1-3-1 and close out on Z.

Yep. And we don’t have the dogs. At all.

Just when we thought we had one in Butler, he got thoroughly outplayed and mentally/emotionally worked by an OSU guard no one has heard of.

What? You thought it was going to be 2010 again?

A guy like Cal was going to swoop in here, bring Wall & Cousins & Bledsoe & Co? Get beat in the Elite 8 by an underdog WV team? Nah, it’s a different day. It’s going to be tough. Got to see what you’re made of. If you can’t take it, there’s that 5 loss UNC team with buddy to go watch.

Never thought this older bunch would be soft & play scared, it’s hot potato when the defense is in their face. Amazing how many we miss at the rom, plenty of shooters but not makers.
It is a change of expectation for all of these guys. None of them have been on a team that was ranked this high and had the target on their back. They thought they understood.

I think the weight of the program and expectations finally hit the players.

We're still 20 points better than Ohio State, whenever the entire team decides to show up, and Mark Pope decides to try different line-ups that actually work when we look like ass.

“More than enough”… 🤣🤣🤣 uh huh
It is hilarious that we have some who ignore the fact that we have already beaten Duke and Gonzaga, both potential final four teams.

In the tournament you have to prove it every night. Until then it is a summation of your record.

If you were to tell us that the past 4 years, most people would have been fine with it. The only difference is that we had higher expectations than the last 4 years.

This season were a fun team NOT a great team. We will have great high scoring games bombing 3s but we're not a/serious contender as we have no real stars just a bunch of good role players. Maybe Chsndler could be that guy but not this year.

Just turned off my TV. Could see very well that we played poorly.

I don’t play. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Agreed. We can have our moments. And we can appreciate those moments.

Not sure if Chandler is that guy either. He looks lost out there.

I was there also
No fire
Pope had a bad night
Should have played Carr @ 5
Should have Zoned most of game we couldn’t guard the isolation from the elbow
We have a talent deficiency we need to Coach like we do

I was screaming for a zone all game. We can defend on the perimeter, can’t protect the rim, and can’t rebound. It’s a recipe for disaster.
