As far as in-game coaching, Calipari was merely the puppet that relied on Robic’s ventriloquy to function. Cal was the perfect face of it all when he had Robic’s backing. We saw him fall off the cliff when Robic wasn’t behind the scenes doing the nuanced parts of coaching.

I think you missed 2007. His teams made the Elite 8 in 1995, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2017 & 2019 which is 6 total plus if you want to include them in the years he made the final four then I guess 12 total Elite 8's.

Robic had a terrible showing as a head coach at Youngstown St but he had no talent to win with. With Cal's ability to recruit top guys he was key in getting them coached up IMO.

Anyone who knows Cal knows Robic was the brains behind Cal. Cal recruited and handled the ego's but Robic game planned and handled a lot of the X's and O's.
