Forgive me if already posted. I did like 15 seconds of due diligence and didn't see posted already so..........

After I read this, I threw up in my mouth a little.

Here’s how Louisville ended up paying him so much, via the Courier-
  • Making some compensation tax-free by “grossing” it up, or essentially paying the taxes for him. This was a $1.6 million benefit to him in 2016.
  • Paying Jurich 160 percent of the cost of his life insurance policy, and allowing him to keep the overage. Employer-paid policies are common for athletic directors, but sweetening the deal is not.
  • Paying him as much as $30,000 per year to hire financial advisers to help manage his money, as well as paying taxes on that perk.
  • Providing $12,000 per year to cover the cost of two vehicles. Coaches and ADs commonly get allowances for one car, but not for two.
  • Buying memberships in two high-end private golf clubs — Hurstbourne and Lake Forest, where membership fees are $28,000 and $25,000, respectively. That’s in addition to membership at the university’s own Cardinal Club course. The university also pays Jurich’s annual club dues and covers his required monthly minimum bar and food bills – an $11,260 benefit in 2015, the most recent year available from the athletic department.
  • Providing 16 Skye Terrace seats each year for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. According to the track’s website, eight premium seats would sell for $24,000 per year.
  • Guaranteeing eight football and basketball season tickets for life — and not just his life. The seats, valued at about $11,500 per year, are property of the Jurich family for the lifetimes of his wife and children, as well.

My goodness. Those last two are just breathtaking. I can't believe the new Board won't at least try to void the last one.

I'm running out of pejoratives to describe Tom Jurich.

Nice of the C-J to report on this now but where have they been the last 15 years? It wasn’t hard to tell there was some unethical ish going on over there, yet the state’s most prominent newspaper more or less turned a blind eye. Now, they’re jumping on the bandwagon.

Either to scared of retribution or their staff and their families was getting the well known in Lou special treatment by UL Athletic Dept for favorable coverage

I'll say it again - this is like what you'd find in a small backwater town where the only thing that matters is the football team and one or two really powerful (and crooked) people control everything.

All fan bases like to think and claim that their rival is corrupt, a cesspool, etc. Has anyone ever been vindicated like the BBN has been vindicated regarding the true nature of the University of Louisville? Is this not like a month of Christmas Days?

And it all pales compared to the white elephant by the river.

Well UNC and UL are certainly duking it out for top corruption in sports

Ramsey and Tom had themselves a honey hole.

I guess my thing was how much does one person really need?

If you start a business, work hard and succeed, then by all means buy an island if you can, good for you.

But if your an "athletic director" at a institute of higher learning (supposedly) and are compensated more than fairly....pay your damn bar bill man.

Free annual dues at three country clubs in excess of most people's yearly earnings while dude is making upwards of $5 million....... and you can't pick up a check?

As I read this last night at my favorite watering hole, I was about to get my $40 plus bill for my beer and such and was like "what an asshole".

What grown ass man doesn't pay his own way, especially for his alcohol? That just ain't American. Good God man...
[cheers]

Look up embezzle and you'll find Ramsey and Jurich's pictures. Jurich no longer has a stranglehold on the Louisville media now that he'll be forced out so i'm sure we'll see even more come out about these criminals. Not only did they bleed their own University dry, they put taxpayers on the hook for the YUM Center. Those guys need to be in jail!

Jurich is a criminal, plain and simple. Hopefully the new administration at UL will do the right thing, even if it's painful.
As this story begins to unfold it defies logic or explanation as to how anyone could manipulate their way into such a position. It would seem that everyone at UL is either criminally crooked or stupid beyond words.Makes the hooker/stripper scandal look tame.

This one struck me as funny, sad but funny.

So U6, paid as much as $30,000 per year to help ole' honest Tom manage his vast sums of money. Unreal. :eyes:

The really mind blowing part of this is that so many Dirty Bird fans are still supporting them.

They have all been played for fools and a whole bunch of them are still begging for more.
This Jurich situation just gets sillier by the day

Trying to decide if it's more like Stockholm Syndrome or Battered Spouse Syndrome.

No wonder Jurich is fighting to keep that job, he’ll never again be able to punk a university into giving him another fortune. Everybody who knew he was being compensated this way should be fired from UL if they already haven’t, what a disgusting abuse of state funds

So how is money given to pay taxes not considered taxable income? Aren’t you supposed to pay your own income taxes with your own money?

I couldn't tell from the deadspin article in the money to compensate Jurich came from the University itself or from the foundation or an athletic foundation. Can anyone clarify?

Exactly, Ramsey is a bigger criminal than Jurich if that is even possible. What an operation those two sleezebags had going. Absolutely unreal.
Yeah, if I were THAT guy? I'd be laying very, very low right now. Apparently, he isn't.

It would take MORE than Jurich's fat contract to get me to root for Loserville.
Money can't buy everything...including my integrity.

OK...I'd sell out for $1 billion. I mean, c'mon...
