Eh...let's be real. His number one priority was getting paid as much as he could via the transfer portal. It's good to know some players still actually care about winning.
Probably accurate for many…but it was widely reported JQ accepted less to come to Kentucky than he was being offered elsewhere.Eh...let's be real. His number one priority was getting paid as much as he could via the transfer portal.
His number two priority is getting to the NBA/pros as quickly as possible.
Number three is getting as healthy as possible to showcase his talent for wherever he may get drafted.
Winning comes after all that.
The ‘24-25 Cats could have made the Final Four, if not for injuries. There seems to be a balance and positive vibe, now that CMP has his second squad together now. It's hard to imagine that last year might be the least talented overall team he may ever put together here. And I absolutely loved last season.
The continuity and future building blocks placed on top of the firm foundation for the future that is already in place puts us in a zone we haven't had in the CCC years. Not in a long time, at least. Not to mention the quality of depth and roster construction differences between CCC and CMP. We are light years moving forward now, it has that feel.
We are right back to the center of the universe on all things basketball at Kentucky. As if we ever went anywhere else to begin with. So many of us are pumped for the next season, they had all better watch out for us Cats !
Go Big Blue !
That’s with every kid. It’s a given. But you also have kids who at the same time care just as much about winning. The D’Aaron Fox and Bam Adebayo post UNC Elite 8 locker room interview showed how much they valued winning.Eh...let's be real. His number one priority was getting paid as much as he could via the transfer portal.

I don't consider a soundbite from Aaron Torres to be an actual medical update. Dude's a blowhard who knows less about UK basketball than most of the posters on this board. If there was a real update from legitimate sources, every UK basketball reporter would be reporting it.
He just made a comment in what is essentially a blog post. No source, nada. Not even "I talked to his dad who said the doctor said"...So yeah, just a blowhard looking to pump BBN for clicks. Tada. It worked.
@creeksman @Eagles_Ball can we get an update?Racing the throngs of numbskulls who believe JQ can magically heal faster than 99.9% of other basketball players with the same injury. Why? Because his dad and some reporter said so. Never change RR. Never change.
Well, that’s one way to look at it.Eh...let's be real. His number one priority was getting paid as much as he could via the transfer portal.

Nah...no one goes to ASU to "win."Well, that’s one way to look at it.
Another would be possessing a will to win first and foremost will drive you to get a high NIL offer. , Get you drafted, and keep you ahead in your recovery efforts.
A will to win drives guys to success. You either have it, or you don’t.

Good point. He did leave tho. I think he wanted to be at UK the year before. I don’t think Pope wanted anything to do with left over Cal guys. His father said he reached out to Pope twice with no answer so. ??????Nah...no one goes to ASU to "win."
I don't know what happened with his recruitment overall, but if what you are saying about Pope is true (and I have no idea if it is), that is a very poor reflection upon Pope.Good point. Holler at me in October. An update 45 days post surgery means virtually nothing. Cool, he's got ROM. I hope the kid is the one in a million cases that can return to play basketball in 6 months. My world is also based in finance and statistics. I tend to side with data. But you thumping your chest over this is pretty cute though.@creeksman @Eagles_Ball can we get an update?
I think the article was on KSR. His dad was interviewed. You have to remember how late Pope got the job. He focused on putting together a staff first, by then JQ decommitted and was gone. Perry waited and Pope reached out. I don’t think it is a bad look. He had to have priorities.I don't know what happened with his recruitment overall, but if what you are saying about Pope is true (and I have no idea if it is), that is a very poor reflection upon Pope.

Okay...So we are up to two now? Zeigler and Kyle Lowery. I like a good list.Zakai Zeigler had literally the exact same injury last year, had surgery on March 13th (JQs surgery was March 19th), and he was back to full strength and starting Game 1 (funny enough, against Louisville) where he played 34 minutes and had 19 pts and 7 assts.
Your assessment that it's "one in a million" is just not true. Players are coming back quicker and quicker from these things and having a ton of success with the rehab.
Man that hurts my soul to watch. Then getting cheated out of a final four makes it 1000x worse. I'll go to my grave saying that's the most rigged game I've ever seen. That’s with every kid. It’s a given. But you also have kids who at the same time care just as much about winning. The D’Aaron Fox and Bam Adebayo post UNC Elite 8 locker room interview showed how much they valued winning.

I have a feeling several kids have told their fanbase this when they signed. Not a unique statement. I hope he is as good as advertised and is able to get 100% healthy so he can help us get #9.It's good to know some players still actually care about winning.
So what’s new? High school kids would often do this.It won't be long before the top transfers reach out to each other and decide together where they'd like to go -- much like Lebron, Bosch, and Wade did. And please don't turn this into an NBA/Lebron discussion. I'm just explaining what I mean.
It will happen sooner or later. And after it happens once, it will become standard for portal guys to "collude."
Of course, it all depends on schools willing to fork up the money to take them.
So everyone should have listened to you is what you’re saying? These young men aren’t entitled to the money they’re making? Hey, can you tell me your stock picks for now?Michael Jordan wanted to be the best. It’s no different here. Those that want to be the best want it regardless. Money is handled upfront. There’s no reason to think the best still aren’t gonna want to be the best.
I hate this new system and tried to tell many that said “ let’m make money on autographs” that it wouldn’t end there. Few listened. Now that it’s destroyed we need to find the ones that still want to be the best. JQ sounds like one of those.
No no no. BASKETBALL player. Pro or college. Not interested in someone’s nephew or uncles brothers cousins BS story. 6 months. Not 6-7. Not 8.5. 6 months. That’s what they have laid out. That’s the benchmark. I’m not even fact checking this stuff. So far we have two. I hope JQ adds one to whatever list we come up with. But the people that think it’s more than a snowballs chance in Arizona of happening are of the same mindset of those that believe Otega won’t be back. Nothing is absolute, obviously, but my mind doesn’t operate in the puffy clouds and rainbows universe. Years and years of data form a fact based opinion.I guarantee you there are more than that man, come on, you're being delusional at this point.
You think those are the only 2 people in the history of the WORLD to recover from this injury in 6-7 months?

You talked down to posters for taking the word of Aaron Torres then once Jayden Quaintance confirmed Torres, you double down with more nonsense. No no no. BASKETBALL player. Pro or college. UCONN and Higgins was pretty bad. I started a thread about the bad officiating we have gotten over the years and was basically told by many I was delusional and it’s in my head.Man that hurts my soul to watch. Then getting cheated out of a final four makes it 1000x worse. I'll go to my grave saying that's the most rigged game I've ever seen.

Watching that and remembering the UNCheat game. Remembering the UCONN / Higgins cheat and the Whisky shot clock miss , I stand firm on my statement.
No program has suffered the bad call bounce more than UK.
You are young or don’t have a good memory if you don’t remember all the outlandish, bullshit calls we have gotten.
