For those of you old enough to remember Jason Parker, how do you think JQ’s game compares to his? Roughly the same size, animals near the basket, great rebounders. JQ seems to be a better shot blocker. Ironically, Parker tore his ACL while at UK and never came back I don’t think.

Not at all. Parker was a powerful workhorse post big. JQ is a multidimensional, highly skilled all around player. I loved Jason Parker though —- he was a mean dude

Jason Parker trivia:

He won the North Carolina High School Tournament on the floor of the Dean Dome in March, 1999.

Then the next December he beat UNC-Cheats on the same floor as part of the Kentucky Wildcats team after the Cheaters erroneously failed to qualify him by miscalculating his high school transcripts.

If only they'd got him on campus! He'd be Dr. Jason Parker today -- probably at least the head of the Swahili Language center...

I believe both are god awful at free throws but JQ is way more skilled than Parker. Both try to rip the rim off when they dunk

I watched a couple of JQ’s games last year. As others have said, he has a complete game. He has a decent outside shot as well as mid range, rebounded just fine and was a good defensive player. Having said that he could be the best transfer signing of the year or the worst depending on injury recovery.

I’m thinking more along the lines of Patrick Ewing.

The player who played the most like Patrick Ewing at UK was Anthony Davis. Specifically when Ewing was at Georgetown.

Quaintance isn't as good facing up at this point but part of that is the age difference but I'd say he's got a lot of traits that Chris Webber had in HS leading up to him going to Michigan. Age has to be factored in too-we're not talking about the mature Webber in Ann Arbor--we're talking when he was a JR/SR in HS.

That’s interesting to read. I’m too young to remember Ewing in college and was mostly kidding with the comparison.

I obviously don't watch ASU basketball but I thought I read that JQ had poor shooting numbers but has pretty nice form? Sounds like he is way more effective near the basket, like Parker. But, if he has a game similar to Chris Webber, whoa!

He has pretty good form, definitely wouldn’t say it’s picture perfect by any means. His shooting percentages were not good last year. It’s not the strength of his game but he can shoot some. I expect him to hit enough outside shots to keep the defense honest

Some pretty impressive comparisons being made. I was not a Webber fan but I do see the comparison and tend to agree. Parker, not so much, from what I can tell. Every player is different and JQ looks very good butwhoever compared him to AD is the one smoking something. Lol! Truthfully, I'd be tickled pink if he turns out anywhere near as good as any of those mentioned already but I'll be realistic and say that we should not expect that much...but be very happy if we get it from him. Parker was a beast but I don't see the analogy there.

I think his game, and even a bit of his frame, is a lot like Zions. Obviously he's taller and leaner, but they both seem to play a similar style. You watch the highlights and he can just crash the basket from top of the key, almost unchecked and with reckless abandon (in a good way). He's also got that speed and athleticism that you know he's going to swat a few balls into the stands coming back on transition defense. Seems like the type of Power forward who will go right through defenders, yet won't have the weight problem like Zion.

IIRC Parker was only 6'7". He did have great low post moves and was as strong as an ox but a non-factor away from the rim.
Yep, and even that’s an understatement. Parker never even attempted a single three despite starting every game here. And he only shot around 39 percent from the FREE THROW line.

Dude was one helluva physical specimen. Played kinda like a mini-Shaq in the paint. But he was utterly useless with the ball on the perimeter.

Mix in some grandma ma johnson as well, for jayden. Garrison if he get his head on straight. Resembles Juan Howard at times. But needs to work. Get to work.

He also NEVER passed the ball once he got it. Despite some people's fuzzy memories, he wasn't really much of a player other than being a physical specimen like you said.
