I’m not as in tune with the team or schedule as I once was (3 kids under 6). Last night I’m looking at the schedule anticipating a game today, and looking forward to that only to be disappointed we don’t play!

The point being, this behavior for me of actively anticipating watching a nothing game vs a crap opt hasn’t been around for years as I’ve tuned out and mostly followed box scores as I couldn’t stand or enjoy watching cal teams.

Pope has allowed me, and I’m sure most of you, to restore the joy that UK basketball can bring. I haven’t had that joy probably since 2020 range and I am thrilled to once again, feel the joy!

Anyways, Go Cats! Hope you all have a great weekend and I’m looking forward to a special year

Pope has brought the name of the school back to the forefront instead of the background where Cal buried it. Pope has respect for the institution and Cal didn't. Given time, Cal will do the same thing to Arkansas. Thank God he is gone.

UK Basketball brings me joy again as well. I am so thankful he did the Arkansas thing and is completely away from UK.

Pope is so effing brilliant and dedicated and enthusiastic and determined. It is like we just conjured up an imaginary hero who is literally perfectly designed to save the day.

Every time I hear him talk about UK basketball I get the feeling I did from that Superman Returns scene where Superman saves the plane.

Millennials and younger start at the 3 minute mark to get the effect without taking 5 whole minutes of your time. :)

Ky is loaded with 9 upperclassman that can all ball.
We now have a dedicated coach that trys to win games for the state of Ky not to put players in the damn NBA.
We have 9 mercenaries on a mission for #9.
Why most were blind to all this from the outset amazes me.
Its a damn no brainer.
We are the best team in America right now and no one can change my big blue brain!

The last several years, I made zero effort to watch most games. If I happened to be home and able to watch, cool. If not, didn't care. This season, I'm already finding myself looking ahead to make sure I'll be free for games and have watched every minute we've played so far. Never thought that feeling would come back. Shoutout to Pope for bringing the fun in it back.

I am not going to attempt to dampen your enthusiasm and passion for this team and nor should anyone else. I don't know if we are the best team in basketball, but we are certainly a better team than we have been in a very long time. Before some of you start providing a list of previous OAD names, I said we are a better team and not a better eclectic group of individuals auditioning for NBA scouts.

Pope is bringing back "must watch" television for Wildcat fans. We had in Cal's early years here. You knew when the game was on, and you made sure you had to block off a 2-hour window to watch your Cats beat whomever they were scheduled to play.

In Cal's last 4 or 5 seasons here, it became like some on here said, if they had nothing else planned, they would watch, but they weren't changing their lives around to catch the game. Pope has brought us hope that we can get that excitement back that we had a few years ago.
