Let's see, what was the best receiving corp in UK history?
My vote goes to whoever coached a group of receivers that included:
A former QB turned down by UL (BP at the time, I believe) that made himself into a three star (5.5) rating late in the recruiting process.
A very late commit that Morris took away his scholarship offer, which was reinstated when Brooks came on board. Also a very late three star (5.5).
A two star JC WR, that played behind a legacy recruit when he first got here.
A legacy recruit that wowed the recruiting services so much they gave him BELOW a two star rating, a 4.9.
I always liked Burton the best of the four when he was here, and he had worked himself up to starting for St Louis before injuries sidelined his career. Still a good role model.
Tamme is still playing at TE in the NFL, had a great career at both UK and the NFL.
Johnson has probably had the most successful NFL career, signed a $35,000,000 contract with Buffalo a few years ago, now playing on the west coast.
Dickie Lyons Jr had a legit chance to make the NFL, but injuries handicapped him during his tryouts.
All on the same team, at UK of all places.
And he started Cobb and King on their way from converting from the QB position to WR, and started Matthews career at UK, teaching him that he had to block to play, now on the Seattle roster for the Super Bowl this weekend.
But Joker couldn't (and can't) coach WRs, there must have been something in the water back then.
And you really have to wonder what is in the water of the coaches at Florida and Cleveland to consider him, right, I always thought those were pretty reputable football teams. Maybe he sent both of them a bottle of Kentucky bourbon.
