Those particular positions, all in one year? Not so much, but he’s had success in those positions going to the NFL and has by far been the most successful in getting players on the both side of the ball to the pros.
Whether Stoops is more successful at getting guys to the pros on the defensive side is not relevant.
The poster I responded to was highlighting the 2007 team’s offense, in particularly its passing ability, as a proof point in favor of Joker’s OC abilities. He then also mentioned Joker achieved those kind of numbers with far less talent.
I was simply pointing out that, if we’re talking about 2007, it’s inaccurate to say the Joker had far less talent. The 2007 team was absolutely loaded with talent at the QB, WR and TE positions (i.e., the positions responsible for throwing and catching the ball).
We had 4 NFL draft picks on the 2007 team across those positions. You know how many QBs, WRs and TEs from Stoops first 11 seasons ended up as NFL draft picks? Just four.
- Bowden in 2020 draft
- Robinson in 2022 draft
- Levis in 2023 draft
- Leary in 2024 draft
Only once did any of those 4 play together on the same team, and that was in 2021 when Levis had Robinson to throw to. Which, not surprisingly, was Stoops best passing team by far.
