John Deere lay offs

John Deere had record profits last year of something like nine billion dollars. They also spent 7 billion dollars in stock buybacks.


If you’re a shareholder this is great news. The manufacturing side is not as profitable as their tech side and they’re transitioning to that as primary revenue stream.

So why worry about labor costs when you can just ship the manufacturing jobs to Mexico, lower the labor costs of your less profitable manufacturing side and pivot more to the more profitable tech side.
