The worst part about the interview ESPN put out yesterday with Cal in Rupp was realizing Dykes would be calling the game tonight. I've never complained about an anti-UK bias by an announcer before, but Dykes 100% wanted Cal to win this game. But it's not just tonight, Dykes is so corny and rarely says anything insightful. Seems like he just has his position by seniority, because it can't be for what he brings to a broadcast. How do we seem to get him for like 2/3rds of our conference games?

On one terrible foul call where Carr was straight up and Thiero just missed the shot, the play-by-play guy asked Dykes if he saw a foul (clearly implying he did not). Dykes paused like he didn't even remember what the last play was, then blindly said, "Yes. Yeah. Yes I did." Almost had to mute the broadcast.

I've heard of people syncing the radio broadcast to the TV feed, anyone know how I can do that for the next Dykes game?

ESPN got exactly what they wanted. Now they can point at Kentucky fans and shit talk and Seth and Jay are vindicated. They hate the biggest fanbase in college basketball. We need to make them pay. Don’t support their product until they change. BBN has leverage by sheer volume if we throw our collective weight behind a movement.

I find his broadcast partner terrible.
Agreed, for being apparently one of the top crews they're both a tough listen. I can't think of another crew I would choose them over. That job description should be one sentence -- explain the finer points of the game on display. Occasionally I'll tune in to a game between two mid-majors and wonder, why can't we get a crew this good? They're doing basic analysis, keeping it light with a few not-that-funny jokes, but mostly they just seem to understand they are not the reason anyone is watching the game.

Call it out when a team switches defenses, point out how a team is adapting as the game goes on, what they're doing to get a shooter open or how they're trying to shut a player down, explain a rule or potentially confusing call, and pass on the ref's explanation when they come over and talk to the color analyst, and that's about it. Bonus if they have a little inside knowledge of the game plan from sitting in team meetings the day before.

Good points. Dykes knows the game, but in the last few years he's become far too verbose. Nonstop inanities. Sometimes less is more.

I like Dykes . I think he does a great job of communicating. Tells it like it is and is not biased against UK . I prefer him to a Duke shill like Jay Bilas .

This board cracks me up sometimes…don’t like Dykes, don’t like Bilas, don’t like Vitale, don’t like (insert name here)…who then?? It’s not as bad as you make it out to be…it could be way worse…it could be Debbie Antonelli or Doris Burke.

While I don't like VItale, Dykes or Burke, I will say if Cawood Ledford was alive calling games now and "telling it like it is" as he was known for, some on here would hate him and say he is too negative.

He is better than some and about equal to most others. Vitale wasn't as bad as most make him out to be
Burke works much too hard at trying to sound like a man. As 1 or 2 others have posted many here wouldn't like Cawood Ledford if he was around today.

He's very responsive down-leash. Well trained. Why be unbiased if it's not going to get you fed? He knows he's lucky to have a job, so he's going to go with the flow, and that flow is solidly against UK. Always has been.

You see how ESPN has sucked up to Cal since he left? Hated him while he was here. Gave him plenty of love while he was at Memphis. That whole network can eat a bag of sht, afaiac.

First 5 minutes of the game:

"Koby Brea is a no mistake player. What I mean by that is you can't make a mistake against him."

Yeah, how much complete, fkn nonsense can one guy utter NON-STOP without taking a breath or hearing themselves for a second? He clearly doesn't watch the game. I'm guessing he's talking to himself constantly to try out new Jisms he'll use in games.

That ship sailed right after the refs became "the show." There just aren't any professional people like that in the business anymore. We have the sound muted for most of the broadcast these days and have for years.

No one likes Dykes. I don't really understand how he has a job. I have always found him annoying but the last couple of seasons he has just become offensive to my ears. For me he is on the Billy Packer level right now.

Oh sht... If he ever gets the snark of that jerkwad, he could ACTUALLY be worse.
