Jimbo Fisher fires back at Saban

while every coach wants the recruits Saban and Fisher have, they are happy today that it’s Saban and Fisher having this spat and not them. I wonder how Bama players see Saban’s comments. Are they giggling?

In the long run, I doubt this hurts either coach. I am confident, however, that Texas fans are thinking that Sarkisian better get his recruiting act together so that Texas is a player in this discussion.

There is literally an internet thread from opposing fans albeit where Bama kids tag on social media pics of them with their rides…and it’s hundreds of them over the years

People from Etown Ky where Jedrick Wills is from know of the rides he suddenly had at Bama but he never had that anything like that before

I mean 95% of black kids at big schools like Bama , UGA, etc don’t come from a family with an orthopedic surgeon as their parent. Most are either middle class or straight up poor and family don’t have 80-100k to throw on a vehicle….or gold chain this or diamond ear ring that. But they’ve magically had them well before hitting NFL …and not all were big NFL draft choices

Saban is right in his statements about NIL. But most of his motive isn’t the good of the game…it’s he wants less competition to sustain top dog status. And the state of Texas has more resources then does the state of Alabama…and he may see that train a coming

Opposing fans, that's your source? You don't even know if it's their car, it could be, it could be their friends or one they saw in a parking lot they wanted a picture of.

No, many are poor and aren't riding around in 80-100k vehicles either. But all you are doing is throwing accusations out.

Now there are some creative financing forbids like Willis who is very likely to be well paid in 3-4 years that includes a balloon payment at the, which most can't get. Bama doesn't have to cheat, and I am not a Bama fan and thinks the SEC protects them. But I don't believe opposing fans claiming 100's of Bama players riding around in New Dodges.

It's pictures of the players on their own social media posts....sure opposing fans have a motive but it's not like these are photo-shopped. You simply go on players profile and a running joke of eons of Bama players with all kinds of vehicles.

Sure it may be a friends car....but how many people do you know that take their picture with a vehicle not their own and posing? I know plenty of poor people that arent' athletes and they never pose in someones else BMW...its sort of makes you look like a phony if you were to do stuff like that.

To your point about Wills and potentially getting an advance of cash on the premise he is likely going to get a NFL contract later.....yeah that's called having an agent and another rule violation that in past would forsake your amateur status.

All in all....you can defend Bama all you want...Honestly, I've never said much of this in past. My only point is Saban is 100% a total hypocrite for running down Texas AM for maxing out the new NIL rules when he's been more than happy to see extra benefits hit is players life teh past decade. He'd be better off served to just get his bag of NIL cash and raise the price that Texas AM got them for.

"“Coach Saban wasn’t talking to me. Coach Saban wasn’t talking to Jimbo Fisher. He was talking to his boosters. He was talking to his alumni. He was talking to his givers. He was trying to get money,” Sanders said. “That was what he was doing. He was just using us to get to where he was trying to get to.”"

So how do you explain hundreds of Bama players in 80-100k rides, gold chains all over , etc all while playing under Saban?

You can go onto almost any P5 campus including ours and see football players driving fancy rides. They're furnished by dealers on a deferred payment or lease/loan basis that's legal. That's gone on for decades.

Saban said out of his own mouth Bryce Young had over a millions in NIL before he ever played a game
You got my curiosity up on that one. Looks like Bryce played in 7 games before he was declared a millionaire. Don't know exactly when he got the cash but there's nothing there to suggest he got it as a high school player as an inducement to sign with Bama, unlike what A&M and UT are doing and bragging about it. Nothing wrong with players getting NIL money after they are college players.

Come on Deefense....Bryce Young threw 22 passes in mop up duty in 2020....His first real QB play came in 2021...after Saban stated Bryce had well over 1-2 M in NIL racked up. I just think we are splitting hairs at this point to spank on Jimbo/Texas AM while acting like what Bama/Saban are about is somewhat more righteous. Both schools are paying players...so either change the dang NIL stuff and quit taking a side on who does it more is all I'm sahying.

Jedrick Wills is from Lexington not Etown. His mom is originally from my hometown. I grew up with her and her brothers. I can tell you the Jedrick wasn't paid by a booster or given a vehicle (according to his family and what I have been told). He may have been given a loan for a vehicle based on potential future earnings but that was as close as being paid that he got.

Prime Time's take is EXACTLY correct.

Saban wasn't trashing Jimbo or Deon - he was trashing the Bama boosters! pointing his finger at THEM to up their game, and spend like Texas a&m and Baratool did for Jackson St.

My bad...I was mixing up Brandon Deadrick from Etown. But wasn't Jedrick played at Lafeyette Lexington with that massive OLine. But things chaanged for him at Bama before NFL....we can all pontificate if he was paid to got to Bama...or stuff started happening for him after Bama.....but again, aren't we splitting hairs to proclaim other schools are dirty but Bama is not?

Soyp you and I have the same opinion on alot of things. He just denied too hard. He knows Nixk was right, buy og course no proof and even if there were there are basically no rules. But Jimbo averages 4-5 losses a year, outside of Jamis his time at FSU was average. He produces average results with the money they are spending He is out of there.
Yeah as he was talking I was thinking . . . he knows there is really no way to prove any rule breaking anymore because now that its oka for booster and boosters companies to broker deals theres no way to prove where or when or by who the deal was cut.

I am not sure that is ok, I think the one rule they put in was not to influence where a kid goes to school. Well that is like putting a fox in a chicken coop and telling him not to kill the chickens. He is going to do what a fox does. I am sure a few kids have gotten paid in the past, but I don't believe it is as bad as some think. But being able to funnel cash now to a kid and say it's for signing autographs at his oil refinery when he is not on the team yet, well it is what boosters do.

Saban said Bryce Young had the million dollar NIL, he was already at Bama, so not comparing the same thing as a kid still deciding.

I could go out see a Ford GT, get my friend to take a pic of me by it and post it on social media. That doesn't make it mine, but i have a pic of me with one. Defenseee told you how that was done, I tried to tell you, but opposing fans say and kids put pics on social media. Think about it, they drive around in a 2000 corolla with a missing fender, but get to take a pic of them with a Hellcat, no matter who it belongs to. I am sure there are a few nice cars at Bama and the students who own them would like a pic of a football player with their car.

There's a huge difference between paying a player a zillion dollars of NIL money AFTER he becomes a player rather than BEFORE as an inducement to sign with you - that's the issue. Young got paid after he was a member of the team, regardless of how many passes he threw. Regardless of what Bama may or may not be guilty of I agree with what Saban is saying which is in line with what Coach Stoops has been saying, though Stoops has been more diplomatic about it.

I got my pic with a 2017 Ford Ranger a few months back, but I'm not one to brag!

Which was also not kosher. Neither was any special deferred financing if it was obtained solely based on their status as athletes or their anticipated professional sports earnings.

Stuff definitely went on but certainly was not supposed to. Another arrangement was having a booster lease a car and let the player "borrow" it.
