Jim Harbaugh

It's been as public as it can be as far as him interviewing with the Vikings and now maybe even Miami too. Part of me says it's hard now for him to walk back on this public stuff and be at Michigan again next year. Then another part of me thinks he's such an odd duck that he's perfectly fine walking back to Ann Arbor next year after all this or using all this free publicity as a recruiting advantage in the future.

I would miss him in the college game. Just seemed like he was getting Michigan going to compete against the OSU hegemon. Legend for what he did at Stanford. Only guy to beat Pete Carroll at his peak.

Hopefully it’s a good domino effect for us gaining a player or two. I worry what it could mean though with coaching moves either directly or indirectly.

Word is he's taking the Vikings job.

So there may be open season on Michigan players. Transfers in particular.

Footballscoop.com is reporting through their sources that he said some goodbyes yesterday and the interview today is just a formality.

Assuming Harbaugh is gone, and it looks like he is, now the attention turns to Michigan and hiring his replacement. Spring practice starts within a month I'd guess.

I think that same senior writer for Michigan is saying that Matt Ruhle will be the guy UM targets. He's struggled in the NFL so would be quite ironic if Michigan loses its coach to the NFL and his replacement happens to be a HC from the NFL.

UK recruited a lot of guys on that roster. I'd bet they promote internal & keep every other assistant in place, to try and keep the roster intact.

If I were UM, I would target Aranda instead of Rhule. Aranda's team plays hard for him and seem to really like their coach. UM typically wants a UM guy so not sure who they would target this time. You would think they have a pocket list, Harbaugh was on the hottest of hot seats last year.

Aranda won't leave Baylor for Michigan. It was believed at one point he could have had the USC job and he's even a southern California native and he said he was truly committed to Baylor and loved it there and then was rewarded with a new contract.

Ruhle makes A LOT of sense for them because while an assistant at Penn State then HC at Temple he recruited very well the areas Michigan typically spends lots of time recruiting in.

Another guy who I can see Michigan having interest in is Bill O'Brien, former Penn State and NFL HC. O'Brien has quite the resume-- also having worked with Belicheck in New England and Saban now at Alabama. Again, he's familiar with the recruiting ground Michigan would usually be in.

However, I see Ruhle s a little more refined version of O'Brien.

This is wild...minority Vikings owner may sabotage Harbaugh because he's a huge Michigan fan
