JH family wants him to stop reffing

I think he's over exaggerating with the 25,000 calls and FB posts. I think his FB maxed out at 900 reviews

Higgins is keeping this story going, and the UK fanbase is becoming a scapegoat for all fanbases who do stuff like that. He admitted that other fans had put pictures of his kids on the web before. It's ridiculous this is becoming a story about UK fans. Nothing out of the ordinary. Crazy fans exist in every fanbase. Giving them more publicity isn't the answer.

It's exactly what I knew would happen. Did you expect a different result? It's the reason why a lot of us on here were so opposed to people doing it. It was so predictable.

With that said, this is not a normal occurrence, not on this scale at least. Higgins even said that this is not "normal", as much as some UK fans want to believe.

That's the second article I've read in the past couple of days and neither one mentions anything about death threats. I wonder if Higgins has been told not to discuss them or if the investigation has been completed and no credible threats were uncovered.

He also says he did a good job calling our game. I thought he was corrupt but I now suspect that he may just be blind.

With social media and the internet, todays society makes anonymity extremely difficult for anyone in the public eye. However, by Mr. Higgins using his Refereeing gig as a source of recognition for his personal business, he has opened himself up even more.

I'm in no way justifying the so called "death threats" or any harassment he has received. But, I'm sure his family, and now he himself, realizes how his openness has drawn the ire of the biggest and most rabid fan base in the NCAA.

Is he a HORRIBLE referee? Most definitely. Making it even more logical to get out now, because he will have that stigma from now on.

Oh, Higgins said it wasn't normal, so cased closed. Get real. You're also accepting his version of the scale. Why are you trusting his version?

In all seriousness, I don't see any way he can call a UK game in the future. I know dumber things have happened, but there is no one with half a brain in that NCAA office that will think Higgins is now capable of being objective with calling a Kentucky game.

Perfect result then. Not the best way to go about it though.

Don't care if he ever refs another game. For that matter, he can stop breathing and that wouldn't bother me either.

NCAA keeps rogue refs. Doubt they would worry about doing what is right with us. Now we see not only a rogue ref but a lying one also.

Yeah, cause this stuff makes national news every year.

I'm not saying it doesn't ever happen cause I'm sure it probably does but not on this scale. When is the last time that you turned on ESPN on CNN and saw a story like this? I can't ever remember seeing a story like this myself. Some may question the number of fans who did do this and they might be right but it was enough to draw national attention and that's obviously more than enough.

I can't understand why so many want to act as though this is an everyday occurrence and why so many take offense when people say otherwise. Some are taking it so personal. I'm not saying anything good about Higgins cause he sucks at what he does on the court but everyone is acting as though you're a Higgins sympathizer if you aren't on board with what was done to Higgins. That's not the case at all. I just knew the media would spin things around and make Higgins the victim. And that's exactly what happened.
