I didn't think he'd get an offer at a P5 level, but heck if an in-state kid can put up those numbers...why not give him a try?? Redshirt him and then put him behind the big blue wall? 5 years of him could work out!

He says OPPORTUNITY to PLAY, nothing about an offer. Assuming it's PWO

@JRowland can you confirm?

I have seen the kid on the field. Best player on his team, but I would be surprised if he is offered a scholly. Would have been in years past.

We had the discussion about two months ago. I said the kid would open some eyes. He did not camp and was a unknown. Kid can play, it may be a PWO, maybe not. i will check around and see. I was the one who actually started a Jeriah Hightower thread a couple months ago.

What kind of speed does this guy possess? TIA

4.6 ish. I am not saying he will be, but he reminds me a lot of Benny and how he runs, same type speed. More of a power runner. if he gets down hill, tough to bring down, very seldom goes down with first contact.

He is a really good football player, but the main reason he doesn't have more/bigger offers is that is 40 is much closer to 5.0 than to 4.5.

Was talking to one of the coaches about him a couple weeks ago after watching him play. He told me that he went to a camp early last year and ran a 4.75, which caused some schools to back off him, but that he has worked on it with specialists, and has really improved his speed. Said that was the only thing keeping him from getting high D1 offers. He has been in the coaching profession for 20+ years and said he is the best he has ever seen at seeing holes and vision. I know from watching him 3-4 games this season, he does remind one of Benny Snell the way he runs.

Yep, been telling people for two years now the kid can flat out play. people laughed and dismissed the Benny comparisons. Said he would never play anywhere other MAYBE WKU, UT Martin, etc. I have watched the kid since his sophomore year, i just laughed at them. "he plays against weak competition, he is from Western KY, blah, blah. blah. " The posters who where saying all that could not tell a difference between a orange to a apple, much less try to judge a kids talent watching videos. Heart has a lot of talent making up. Kid sees the whole, sees what is happening around him, and is determined to get to the goal line, whether it be from 3 yards out, or 50.

Well I mean PWO doesn't mean he's going to play...again if we can get a kid like that as a PWO more power to the staff. But I wouldn't use a scholarship on him.

And to be clear, he does NOT have a scholarship offer from 1 FBS team. Illinois State and UT Martin are his only current offers. So he's still hoping a WKU will offer him.

Kolbe Langhi from Christian County put up some of the best numbers in the state during his career and he can't even make the QB rotation at Kentucky as a PWO. Maybe he has the potential to be a good PWO like a Baker Mayfield? But numbers say it's not likely that a PWO gets a chance at a P5 school. Just because he plays at my hometown school doesn't mean I'm going to hype him to no end.

Western Kentucky competition in the KHSAA is awful. I watched Hightower 3 times this year against the schools down here. There was only 1 player with a P5 offer and that's the Jesse kid at Hopkinsville...and you could see the difference between the two. One is a great high school player that maybe could develop into a contributor or earn a FBS scholarship....the other is an P5 talent that could develop into a draft pick one day.

He continued to do it in the playoffs. So the Hoptown kid is better and plays against the same WKY talent ? gotcha I mean they played against the same teams, no ?
Maybe YOUR home team homer bias is showing, not mine. Hightower's stats are not impressive because he played against WKY talent, but Jesse's is against the same level and pretty much same teams ? Hum, why is that ?

A PWO offer does not mean he is the next Benny Snell, jesus.

Well what exactly was Benny's clout coming into college ? OSU offer ? Bama offer ? "REMINDS me of" and "I am not saying he is the next Benny" are the words I used. YOU are the only one saying someone said he was the next Benny or maybe Jesus. I can without a doubt say Hightower is not the next Jesus, and you can quote me on that one, unlike my previous post you seem to twist to fit your agenda.

SHHHH, Hoptown Cat has spoken, he has watched him play a few times against bad competition, no way the kid has a chance. But a kid at his high school played against the same teams Hightower did and is a possible NFL draft pick. Logic, who needs it.

Leading rusher in the state and excellent student. Sounds like an excellent PWO candidate to me.

You are the only person comparing him to Benny, and there isn't much difference between a PWO at UK and a scholarship player at UT Martin, you are getting overly excited for no reason. Great a kid from your local area gets an opportunity to play at UK, but you are acting like he has been named the starter, and no chance he runs a 4.6 that's just another inflated number.

For starters, 2 different positions. And Jesse is a year younger. You act like it's an insult playing OVC football. Getting those scholarship offers are big time....but FBS is another level. Boom Williams was an awesome college running back...but just wasn't NFL material....doesn't mean getting a training camp contract wasn't a big deal.

Hightower has 2 OVC offers...not even Austin Peay, EKU, Murray or JVille State.

Maurice Jesse has SCHOLARSHIP offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, Purdue, West Virginia, Washington State, WKU. I'm pretty sure Penn State and Wisconsin have been in to see him to this year. Has another entire spring and summer for more offers. Oh but yeah...it's my bias that caused Marrow to give him another look....you know a school that hasn't had a FBS player sign in 15+ years and finally one kid gets all these looks and its my bias that the next underrated Benny Snell/Josh Allen type just needs one chance.

So yeah...my bias of the "hometown kid" vs. your bias won't solve anything. The unbiased attention of division 1 coaches and scouts whose livelihood depends on the ability to win games and find players to win games....oh and are being paid all that money to do it...I'll trust theirs....

Now the 2 kids playing basketball from Madisonville...those are the major players that will be playing on a big stage the next 4 year...White and Casey. I'd bet they'll have a chance to cut down the nets at Rupp in March.

By "offers" I assume you mean PWO? According to Rivals he has 2 scholarship offers...Illinois St and UTM.

If he comes to UK they should use him like they're using Mark Schlegal...STs and a blocking fullback, Schlegal's been a major contributor in those roles.

Offers? I was talking about the wideout from Hoptown High, Reece Jeese, who actually has an offer from UK. He was saying that I'm biased because I said the best player in the game I watched was Jesse...not Hightower....even though Jesse has multiple P5 offers.

But Hightower? He only has the 2 offers mentioned you are correct. I was talking about another player arguing with CatFanBGKY

Sorry, misread your comment.

Look at it this way....the most dominant running back I've seen on the western part of the state(don't consider the BG schools on the Western part) the last 5 years was Cody Crider from Graves County. I mean he dominated and led Graves to the 5A state title.

He was 5'10 180...Hightower is 6'0-6'1 220 or so

Crider didn't get any FBS offers....went FCS to SIU. He's played linebacker there ever since. Was actually 2nd team all-conference this year on defense. Josh Forrest at Paducah Tilgman too. Wasn't working at wideout here...moved him to linebacker and got an NFL contract

Maybe Hightower can move to defense and such. Be a special teams star....if he develops right then maybe he can earn a scholarship. Or maybe he becomes a great scout team player that makes us good in practice from runningback.

I'm all for him coming in as a PWO. Maybe less than a 1% chance he ever starts...but might as well take a chance with an in-state kid and not risk a scholarship.

Funny, I just re-read my post. Not one GD time did I say he would be the starter for UK, is as good as Benny Snell. I said REMINDS ME OF BENNY, and also the NOT SAYING HE WILL BE, i thought that kind of set the tone for my post. Well it did for people with reading comprehension of an adult. The other, they either can't read, or just looking to split hairs, change words. I kind of hope it is the last, they are just wanting to argue for the sake of arguing. I do not want anyone on here that can't read. they should be learning if that is their problem.

He does have 4.6ish speed. TRUST ME, I know, but you go ahead with your bad self GYERater, you know EVERYTHING. Well in your mind you do.
