Jen Smith: Buh Salary in Comparison to Naivar, Peveto

Peveto and Naivar were both Safeties + Special Teams coordinator...

Buh is coaching outside linebackers.

plus Buh is still due money from Cal in addition to what he makes at UK

If Buh recruits like most think he will he'll get raises and be on their level soon enough. We got him at a discount because he got scapegoated by Sonny Dykes

Thanks to Cal, Buh is actually making $500,000 annually - at least through April 2016 (and the reason Buh's contract with UK is only until 2016).

Contract Details

Good find DA, was just getting ready to mention that fact. This happens all the time when one school is paying a guy who leaves. It gives his new school a chance to save a few bucks and spend it somewhere else.

just another wonderful display of investigative journalism by the Herald Leper

Yes, Buh makes 500K per year, but Jen is right that UK only pays 200K per year, Cal has to pay the difference in what he makes at the new job vs what he was making at Cal. So we pay 200k and Cal pays 300K. I'm sure this was by design because it benefits UK and Andy, he makes the same money (and sticks it to Cal a little), we save money until 2016 when Cal's contract expires.

I could be wrong, but I am under the impression Coach Buh is being brought in because of his ability to communicate and teach the skills of defensive football and to help with game planning. His last job was on the west coast, where we don't recruit very much, and I haven't seen him described as an unusually good recruiter. I may have missed that though.

If he takes a check he surely will recruit the West Coast better then Coach Brooks did.

He is also a good recruiter with a lot of contacts in the West and Texas, he may have others.

Evidently Buh is recruiting New Jersey now. But if he can help us in Texas, that will be a step in the right direction. Kentucky's roster has 2 players from Texas, and 1 of them is a JC transfer.

3 players in 10 years? I believe Curry Recruited more West Coast players from a Jr College then Brooks did all together!
