I really like this kid's game and future if he signs with us.The only problem is every announcer will call him Jamal Baker.
I don't think he will fill it up but if gen can shoot like they say he can he can atleast keep the defense honest. The problems with Matthews was he felt like he should of played a lot more based on his rankings before he got hurt m. He was 15 then dropped to the 50s. The other knock on Matthews was he wasn't much of a shooter. He was more of a logins type guy that played d and could rebound. The other problem was Matthews much like others that have left like Stacy Poole felt they should start right away or at the very least play 20 mins a game and won't except the fact theat everyone develops at a different pace and some guys are further along than you are. Had he been a sophomore he could of made a case he should of played more but he was a freshman playing behind a senior in poythress and a backup to Murray if need be. He would of been much more valuable this year had he stuck around but patience is a virtuedoubt it unless green and/or shai is pretty bad. in which case who cares cause we got bigger issues. charles mathews played 10 mpg, averaged less than a bucket a game and we had no depth on that team.....and he transferred! the 2017 team could have more options depending how it shakes out.
but some want to believe that a guy in 8 mpg is going to walk on the court and fill it up....for 4 years. sounds good.
agree, from the very little i've seen (which did include baker making seven 3s in one game against compton high)
neither stands out as a run & jump athlete, but smith is much bigger, and appears to be more of a playmaker. should eventually be able to guard 3 positions, while baker will probably only be able to guard 1s
johnson could provide something next year. already shown he can at least make shots in a power conference. didn't guard shit at pitt, but he's a lot longer than baker
Guess I need to elaborate....being able to dunk with ease for a guard is an indication of athleticism is what I should've saidGuards dunking are where games are won.
Bamba,Johnson,BakerHope they are right. They wrote an article saying there is a good chance of getting Cam Johnson.

sure as hell could have used a role player that could come in and knock down threes a few weeks ago just sayingCal has offered all three of them. That’s about all you can ask for.
And it’s really impossible at this point to know who will turn out the best amongst the three. Johnson averaged 12 points/game for a terrible Pitt team, playing almost 33 minutes/game. How and why some in our fan base think that translates to much more than 5 to 7 points/game at Kentucky is beyond me. Johnson would probably be a role player here, and that’s about where his ceiling would end.
The staff and most recruiting analysts disagree with you. Baker is their choice over Smith.
I don't care, I would rather have Mark Smith. He's a complete player!
I feel like that's all you can expect from any of them. He has the advantage of being an upperclassman I suppose.Cal has offered all three of them. That’s about all you can ask for.

I'm smarter than most of them. Smith will end up better and get a bump in the rankings when they come out next, watch. The staff and most recruiting analysts disagree with you. Baker is their choice over Smith.
We'll end up with Baker and you'll be glad down the road.
Bam staying and losing Bamba would not hurt us nearly as much as losing out on Cameron Johnson at this point.
6'8" SF with 2 years experience starting in the ACC while shooting 42% from 3, 12 ppg, 82% FT, 4.5 rpg, and Pittsburgh's best defensive player last year. All things that Calipari wants to have to a tee in a player.
Would start at the 3 along with Diallo, Green, Bamba/Bam and PJ/Richards/Hump/WG
Well rivals thinks Smith is 20 spots better than baker....they do a pretty good job, like I said. Smith is better. The staff and most recruiting analysts disagree with you. Baker is their choice over Smith.
Rivals just jumped smith 20 spots ahead of baker. Called it.I'm smarter than most of them. Smith will end up better and get a bump in the rankings when they come out next, watch.
Actually Baker did dunk in at least one of his reels but dunking is not a concern....shooting is and he has incredible range and could be a zone buster. I saw Skal and SKJ dunk a lot in highlight reels. How many times do you see Baker dunk? Zero...because I don't think he can.....Smith otoh is somewhat explosive
