Jelly RollšŸ™ƒ

He was the first true jazz composer

Not sure the point trying to be made. This isnā€™t a ā€œwe use to get drake and now we get jelly rollā€ type comparison. It isnā€™t just trying to be the ā€œitā€ school. Jelly Roll has a very interesting background and redemption story. He also does a lot of work with helping people turn their lives around now. No doubt he was there to talk about life, redemption, his struggle with addiction and beating it, etc.

This is less about the celebrity and more about the message/big picture

Anyone think he's telling the truth about growing up watching UK or just did it for the camera

Exactly. This is a dude that made a HUGE turnaround from being a user/dealer to testifying before Congress in the anti-fentanyl legislation in hopes of being part of the solution rather than the problem. The guy is living proof that people can change for the better.

Iā€™ve got as good a sense of humor as anybody, and Iā€™m fine even making light hearted jokes about his weight or whatever. But anybody who thinks his talking to the team is a BAD thing is just a clueless idiot.

Yes, he is a huge basketball fan. he even played on the court at the Spectrum Center, home of the Hornets. He is from Nashville, so very possible he and his dad traveled to Lexington to watch games v/s UT. He had a concert in Rupp last night, where ever he is having a concert, he tries to get some time in on the court. Probably will be video of him playing in Rupp. I believe him, no reason to lie about it.

The first thing I thought of is Cal. I might check out his music.
Not hard to believe, but it has nothing to do with Jelly Roll. You are eat up with Cal, just read your post, no matter the topic, you always end up with a Cal comment.

Jelly Roll said he was able to see the 1996 team play as a kid. Also said UK is one of the greatest programs in history. The man gets to speak to the them based on that criteria alone.

As far as the radio country folls go. Jellyroll is one of best with Cody Johnson - I liked Combs till he abandoned his outlaw roots totally. Stspleton is a level on his own noone csn touch his tslent but imo he's more rock and maybe blues thsn country.

Too bad Tyler, Jamey and Cody Jinks do t get more play they are better than any of em.

Not a big fan of his music, but from all indications heā€™s a great guy whoā€™s gone through hell and back with addiction and lived to speak out to help others with the battle. Always welcome, imo.

He has an off day before a show in Evansville, think heā€™ll be the Y at the game?

Not sure how many Jelly Roll fans we have on the team but, I'm fine with it and hopefully he won't be the last "celebrity" we have stop by. I trust Pope and staff to make the decisions on stuff like this. GO CATS!
