Perry will be a Cat as long as Coach wants him, and I’m sure Coach wants the KHSAA all time leading scorer and one of the best 3 point shooters in HS. I’d be very surprised if he goes elsewhere.
Perry ain’t goin’ anywhere. He’s living that dream and now he has an offense that suits him. He’ll be one of those 3-4 year guys that develops.Perry hasn't even sat down with Pope yet. I find it odd that Pope would have him stand up and say he probably won't be a transfer portal guy when they haven't even talked about him staying at UK for sure.
I dont think he'll make as much NIL as a Lottery Pick. Money wise he should go to the league. But hope he returns anyway. He will make more than his rookie contract at Kentucky, the issue is every year he’s still here is one year that he’s not moving towards his second contract in the NBA which is where you can make generational wealth.
One thing to take into account is the Sheppard tshirts and jerseys sold in Kentucky will continue for years if he comes back and if he invests most of that more money will be made. But if he goes pro this year he won't sell much merchandise anywhere until/unless he becomes an NBA star.I dont think he'll make as much NIL as a Lottery Pick. Money wise he should go to the league. But hope he returns anyway.
I would love to see him light Arkansas up next year as an FU to Cal.I guess others already knew this, but I just watched a video from Aaron Torres from a week ago, and he said Cal did not want Perry, and that Perry was told not to take the offer, which was given basically because the fans would have roasted him, but he took it anyway. If that is true, I think he's staying unless Pope were to say he didn't want him, which is doubtful.
Love your wishful thinking.Nicely said... thanks for posting.
Wow, what a decision.
Sign him up for Loyd's of London insurance, let the NIL flow... and he may be close to NBA dollars....
Let him develop a little more on D, and get to Caitlyn Clarke range on the 3s....
then he'll be well positioned for the NBA.....

I listened to that one too. Glad we got him. 100% believe Cal didn’t want another Kentucky kid that he knew there would be pressure to play but he knew there would be a revolt if you don’t offer the all time leading scorer. It’s the reason he never pursued Trent Noah.I guess others already knew this, but I just watched a video from Aaron Torres from a week ago, and he said Cal did not want Perry, and that Perry was told not to take the offer, which was given basically because the fans would have roasted him, but he took it anyway. I think he wants to see how the roster materializes. Does Z stay? Do we land some talented experience quickly? If the pieces begins to fall reed will be able to make an informed decision. The Sheppards are a class act. Always have been.
I just feel that money is not an issue. Jeff and Stacy are well off financially. Reed is already making a lot of NIL money.
This is about whether they feel he is ready to move on to another chapter in his life in the NBA or if he wants to continue in college.
If it was only about money, he would have already declared.
He's been bashing Pope from moment one.Are you joking?
Someone needs to let him hear cousins and wall podcast a month or so ago. Talking about how their time at UK was the best time of their lives. The kid will never want for anything in his life , might aswell live it up during college and stay.He will make more than his rookie contract at Kentucky, the issue is every year he’s still here is one year that he’s not moving towards his second contract in the NBA which is where you can make generational wealth.
Do I need to list all the players under 6'3" who have been successful in the NBA? Starting with Mark Price? My "issue" with Shep and the NBA is his size. Dude is not 6'3. His dad was listed as 6'3 and his dad is still two inches taller than him.
Does Catlin Clark shoot the same size basketball as Reed? Can two sports be the same if the ball is a different size? That is an obvious no.Nicely said... thanks for posting.

Kinda funny story. Heard Cal tell Arkansas people at his presser the other day that recruiting begins first and foremost in-state. LMAO That dude is so full of shit, it’s unreal!Trent Noah would be in blue and white if Pope was the coach a year ago.
I am expecting Reed to go pro and will be pleasantly surprised if he returns.
That kid should have been in blue and white a year ago no matter who the coach was if he wanted to come here. He is a legit player.Trent Noah would be in blue and white if Pope was the coach a year ago.
Such a class act. Regardless of the choice....he and his son will be loved and appreciated for all they have done for UK basketball.
More with less have went to the NBA from this program. If Reed is a lottery pick he would be a fool not to go. His parents are not fools and I think they will tell him to seize the moment and go to NBA.I do think Reed does physically need to continue to grow, I think he has a great skill set but his body isn’t NBA level yet.
That’s coming from an unbiased place of opinion, not a “Kentucky homer wants Reed to stay” place.
I think one of the things that I couldn’t blame him for leaving would be if he got a promise from a good franchise that they’re drafting him if he’s available, some people have mentioned the Spurs, about the possibility of him being Wemby’s lead guard, sounds like a franchise duo to me.

Pretty sure @UKortho inferred this last yearI guess others already knew this, but I just watched a video from Aaron Torres from a week ago, and he said Cal did not want Perry, and that Perry was told not to take the offer, which was given basically because the fans would have roasted him, but he took it anyway. Jalen Brunson has entered the chat (not comparing him to Reed, but he’s someone even less athletic than Reed who is completely tearing up the league rn)It's just that its going to be that much tougher for a guy who ISNT all that athletic. He's not going to have NBA athleticism and he's also not going to have NBA height.. that means he REALLY needs to lean on his IQ and shot making. Which can be done for sure.. it's just that he's already got a few limitations working against him. And if it's true that he's more like a 6'2 guy, then that really rules our the SG position and forces him to the point or maybe, maybe a combo guard.
Price made a career in the NBA because of his shooting ability being near the top.
Jeff and his family deserve their time. Reed deserves his time. Jeff already knows everything he needs to know about Mark Pope.

Travis was concerned that Cal only offered due to possible fan pressure. Yes, he wasn’t sure Cal wanted him. He called the coach before deciding and Cal said if he didn’t want him he wouldn’t have offered.
They have 100% definitively spoken. I don't know about "sat down with" but 100% spoken. Sunday's ovation was planned, it's why Perry was on the floor as opposed to in the stands somewhere.Perry hasn't even sat down with Pope yet. I find it odd that Pope would have him stand up and say he probably won't be a transfer portal guy when they haven't even talked about him staying at UK for sure.
