Jeff Goodman trying to convince Bolden to go to Kansas

Considering the reality that Selden, Mason, and the rest of the KU guards/wings aren't ready for the NBA summer league, Goodman is right. All Kansas needs is a 5 star big man to complement those guards and wings next year. If only they had 5 star bruiser down low who could rebound, defend, and maintain offensive balance on the low block.

Oh wait...

No one sandbags recruits like ole hairpiece...

He knows what kind of roster he's looking at next season if he doesn't kill their draft stock this season.

Sad isn't it? I know some of our fans get onto Cal for being NBA-minded, but at least there is a real, at least semi-altruistic reason there. Cal wants these guys to get paid and he wants to set them up for a life of financial security. Does it also help Cal? Yes, but it's hard to make an argument that it's solely for Cal's sake.

Meanwhile, down in Kansas, Self seems to be more inclined in wanting many of his studs to stick around for an extra year or two. This has never been more obvious than in regards to next year, a year where Self has yet to add even a single McDonald's All-American candidate.

All it takes is a crossfire action of Bolden to UK and just one of Mason or Selden deciding they've had enough of Lawrence and want to try their hands with the draft.

I'm personally hoping those guys finish the year just good enough to make Frank and Wayne leave Lawrence. Losing vets + no incoming studs = disaster.

Probably won't matter if KU gets a commitment from Azubuike here soon. Will essentially remove KU from Bolden's recruitment.

Honest question:

On a scale from 1 to 10 - 10 being you feel perfectly confident, 1 being you're terrified - how concerned are you about the state of Kansas recruiting right now?

Gotta love the passive aggressive trolling we see on here all the time.

Please, conveniently ignore the big men that have thrived at UK under Calipari, such as Cousins, Jones, Harrellson, Davis, Noel, WCS, Randle, and Towns. I think they'd all say that it worked out pretty well for them.
Morris twins, Robinson,Whithey,Arthur, Kaun, and Jackson

Oh hell we all know that Kansas leads for all the top players in 17 18 and most likely 19 !! Damm I think Labron is still a Kansas lean , if you don't believe me just ask them

Well he's correct about our front-court being loaded next year, how could anyone argue that??

I don't know enough about KU for next year, Ellis is obviously leaving...Bragg and Diallo question marks.

Where do I start? Diallo and Bragg play themselves in and out of the lineup. Dwight Coleby is 6'9 and blew his knee apart. Svi is 6'7 and plays the 2/3 and will be a Junior. Lucas is a bench player forever and is also 6'9 and will be a Senior who won't start.

So Lucas plays over Freshman Diallo as a Junior, but as a Senior he will sit behind Freshman Bolden or Azubuike?

That sounds about right. Can't argue with that logic.

Hey, you were the one insinuating that UK can't get big men to live up to their ranking, and I simply retorted with a list of guys that played here and either lived up to or exceeded their rankings.

I was actually taking it easy on you and never said one word about Kansas not being able to produce bigs, though the names you provided is hardly a list of who's who of NBA big men. More like a list of "Who?"

Like some other's I could care less what Goodman says. I do care though that I believe we already need 4 people to leave just to cover the commitments we've got. Perhaps that happens, or perhaps not. Then what? I would think any unsigned recruit at this point is at least going to wait and see what happens before committing to UK. It's hard for me to get excited about any additional recruit this year until we know how this is all going to work out.

Better career than Orton

All of them are worse than at least 5 Kentucky big men that Calipari has put in the NBA lol. When the Morris twins are your selling point, then your big men in the NBA are uh.. Bad.

Busts under cal's watch Alex P, Orton,Johnson, and lee.

Outside out of Orton all the players were top 10 players All 5 stars that didn't that didn't pan out

You seriously included Sasha Kaun? Ok.
Kids today dream of being the #56 pick in the NBA draft, playing 7 years in Russia, and then playing in 25% of the games for an average of 4.3 minutes in the NBA.

When and where does Bolden sign up for that kind of excitement?

You can count the number of busts Cal has had using one hand. Self.......

didn't withey finish up at louisville?

dakari was young for his class, not super athletic, and got drafted after his sophomore year

lee was probably around #30 in the rsci, and that book has yet to be written

orton was recruited by cal's hobodrunk predecessor and didn't want to be here

what a stupid exercise this is

No. He was a UL commit first, then decommitted and went to KU.

Daniel Orton leaving UK in the spring and not going to class is what did him in. I wouldnt root for him even if he could make it in the NBA....... Heck, I'm glad he got cut from the Santa Cruz Warriors NBDL team. serves him right for being a bad team mate

Never cared for Orton myself. He was too busy thinking about taking his rubber knees out the door to league as fast as he could

Would it be accurate to include Xavier Henry to the list as well?
He at least managed a 1st round pick in the draft. His career afterwards leaves little to be desired. I don't put that all on a college coach. Self's obligation to his players is to put them in the best position for their careers. Xavier Henry was a top-5 recruit, struggled with consistency during his one season, but still managed to be drafted.

I would have to believe that Calipari would have put him in a better spot in the draft. That could have changed the trajectory of his career. Or he could have still bounced around and struggled to find a role on an NBA team. A lot of that has to do with Henry.

Henry has told recruits in the past to stay away from KU and that Self lies.

I wonder if Cal has similar detractors?

It stands to reason that every coach has at least one guy that didn't pan out that blames their coach.

It's human nature to blame someone else. As a teacher, I am sure there are plenty of kids who blame me (and my fellow teachers) for not preparing them for college after they flunk out. Most people, especially young people, do not like to admit that they were the ones to blame for their failures. We need an "escape goat" (LOL!).

Withey started at Arizona and transferred to Kansas after 1 year.

Lee was #18 RSCI.
