IMO, Jaxson Robinson is not playing the caliber of basketball that we all expected. I did not see any of his previous games at BYU but I supported the fanbase on how special he supposed to be. Folks, I'm not seeing anything special about Jaxson play. Yeah a few flashes of some decent basketball but overall underwhelming performances from my perspective. It seems that he is simply going through the motion and not playing with a high-level of energy or enthusiasm that is expected of him. Maybe, I'm the only one that feels this way but I've been quite disappointed in his overall play.

I believe he has the ability to lead but someone needs to light a fire under his ass! Jaxson we need you to STEP-UP and rev that motor up. This criticism from me is done with love because I see the talent but we need you to unleash that talent every game. You are on the biggest stage of your playing career and everyone is watching. I'm rooting for you kid but us fans are expecting more. No more of this lackadaisical ish going into 2025.

You can see Robinson's 5-year career stats here. He's playing at a slightly lower overall productivity rate, but is rebounding better. That’s a needed plus.
My suspicion is that the SEC schedule will provide regular opposition that will challenge him to step it up.
Hopefully, he can and will.

His missed dunk. Tells you all you need to know.. Instead of going up, and trying to tear the rim off, he just jumped enough to dunk it, and misjudged, and the rim blocked him... He just does not seen happy or engaged.

Possible being the one guy on the team with history in the system is proving to be frustrating as things break down.

Would be great to see him step up and lead. Not sure if that’s his personality.

Was pretty excited when he helped us close out a top 10 Gonzaga in Seattle.

I'm more critical of him because he was supposed to be our #1 guy. In the Summer I was like at least we have Jaxson Robinson. Well show me this NBA talent you supposed to have. He is playing about a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. I thought we would see at least an 8 or better.

No one on this team is going anywhere near the NBA at this point in time. That's for sure.

Do the players look tense to you? A lot of them look tense to me. I don’t see a lack of effort for the most part, I see guys who lose confidence quickly. This is particularly and issue with shooting the ball. I can’t see the solution to guys struggling with their shot is eight hundred basement morons on Twitter telling them they are a waste of space improving that, but hey, I’m just a guy

JMHO but, I think he looks so bad because his teammates are out of position and don't know the system. Much of which is effort but they have to learn and believe in the system. What we are seeing is Jax dribble while waiting for guys to get where they are supposed to be. Same for Butler and even Williams, because so much of our 5 out offense starts out top, with the 5 man.. Players out of position leads to trying to do too much yourself. Seems to me, the system can make players look better than they are when it works but worse than they are when they don't.

I started a thread during the non conference about what would happen to this offense when we played teams that are taught to foul?? Everyone was not worried. I was.
I’m not sure if players are not where they are supposed to be because they can’t get there.
Ohio State and Clemson both used what I call the Tennessee forearm. On all screen action both defenders place a long forearm on their man. You can’t get by the screen and you can’t roll quickly. It’s an equalizer for screens. You must be quick and powerful to turn the corner on these guys that do it.
On another note Duke is also taught to foul offensively. Watch any game and you will see all their players use the off forearm to push the defender away right before they jump. Happens 15Xs a game and haven’t see if called once.
At some point to compete. We are going to have to be taught how to foul. Cal would not do it because it didn’t help get them to the NBA. That’s not allowed there.
I hope Pope sees how the SEC and college is and adjusts. Our guys are not terribly slow. They are trying to play good defense. They don’t know how to foul and get away with it. That’s taught.

They look Un-Talented. Bunch of role players that at times can look pretty good but other times can barely dribble. We have one guy in Butler that can drive the ball and the rest should be catch and shoot. Hard to run an offense like that.

With out naming names, we have a couple of warriors who will fight when the chips are down. And we have a few who disappear when the fight gets intense, and the game gets physical. When they are being shoved or have a defender draped on them, and it's not easy to get their shot off cleanly, they don't want to return the favor on the other end, and they don't want to attack the basket. I was hoping that having upper classmen would solve that issue. Pope better get their head right, or the SEC will chew us up and spit us out.

So, we didn't have enough talent to compete with Ohio state and Clemson yet beat Duke and Gonzaga? The Ohio state game was not a talent issue. It is a heart issue. They wanted it more.

I watched BYU the last couple years and JR today he is the same way he was at BYU. He takes off plays and waits a lot on the outside waiting for a 3 point shot. He has never been aggressive driving the ball because he cant. There is a reason he came back to college ball. He Knew he wasn't going to get drafted. He will have good games and bad ones. It is what it is and I doubt he will change

just don't understand why these guys shy away from the bumping and shoving. That is part of the game. When they get popped in the mouth, that should just fire them up, instead, they just seem to hide in a shell. Williams, instead of dunking, he will just shoot a layup.
Man, if I was 7' and 240 lbs., I would be trying to break the back board every time I could. Every rebound would be a battle. Instead, he rarely gets a rebound that he has to go after

The second sentence here is kind of obvious if you expected him to be more than he’s been so far. This is the exact player he was at BYU. Very inconsistent and for every game he helps win like Gonzaga there will be one he plays poorly. There’s a reason we’re his forth school.

And UK needs some players that nba talents to win big. Always have. I'm not gonna keep posting the specifics but all anyone has to do is look at our ncaa title and final four rosters since 75.

Yep, I looked a bit into recent Final4s and title teams.. and almost all of them had a 1st rounder on them, and in a good amount of cases multiple 1st rounders (or a few 2nds, etc).

If the draft was tomorrow I don't think any of our guys get selected. Maybe Oweh or Butler go in the 50s. But doubt it.

And that's just never going to work IMO. Some might disagree, but I think at some point you just need some elite talent if you want to consistently make runs in march.

Apparently, he is waiting for someone to insult the former Queen or the current King then he will get his knickers in a bunch.

I think he can be a good player for sure. He needs to play with energy and be assertive every second he’s on the court. A lot of our inefficient shots are because we stopped passing the ball to open guys. We do that and we can be dangerous but one on one we won’t win.

I’m not really that worried about this year’s team, it’s like Pope got his players from the island of misfit toys out of the transfer portal. Not a lot of sure fire stars available when Pope was trying to fill the roster. He has shown a lot of potential players that he is passionate and runs a fun and gun system, and I look for better players next year from the portal. JMO

That was a Justin Edwards moment for me. Really, really bad.

Reality check if you expected the 6th man from a mediocre BYU team to be a consistent starter for UK night in and night out. Not happening

Same goes for the rest of this squad. We are what we are. Solid inconsistent players with experience but no experience with each other.

This team has to play through the system in order for us to win. Not one player is good enough to carry us. When the whole team goes away from the system we lose.

When the team plays through the system we find a way to beat Gonzaga and Duke.
