BB Recruiting Jarren Williams to Cats Illustrated: UK is number one

he didn't rule out the possibility that he could return to the fold.

LOL That could happen.

I certainly wouldn't count on that happening. I am fine to move on without him. I honestly wonder how many of those big time offers were commitable. If I was Stoops I would have a hard time taking a commitment from him. We can't miss out on very good QB prospects to wait on him or have him go elsewhere at the last minute. I think it is over.

We have certainly heard the "I could come back" spiel before. I hope he does come back; however, I am glad the coaching staff is moving on with other QBs. GO CATS!!

I understand what the kid is doing and why. But it's first come first serve from the moment he backed out of his commitment. We are looking for a QB now.

Why do these kids continue to claim they are 100% committed to a school only to decommit in the next month?

In my opinion, all this does is starts out their career after HS as an absolute liar that isn't very trustworthy.

Maybe that's extreme, but if you are 100%, that leaves ZERO, NADDA, ZILCH room to possibly go elsewhere.

I think the "100%" thing is what bugs me most. Use words like "firmly committed" or "I love Kentucky so much that it'd be real hard to see me go elsewhere".

Just PLEASE stop with the "100% committed" BS. It makes you look bad to a lot of people and isn't a necessary thing to ever say when discussing your commitment level.

Don't kid yourself - if he recommits, we're thrilled to take him. I gotta think he's seen Tua at Bama look ridiculously good and has to think it's gonna be hard to see much time on the field with Hurts and that guy. And lest we forget, they'll sign another couple of 5-stars in the next year or two.

I'd sure think he would seriously consider UK and the possibility of significant playing time in just a year or two.

You gotta remember "commitment" is a status originated and reported by the fan based recruiting industry (i.e., Rivals, Scout, et. al) to establish "news" during the off season. I can remember the days when there was no recruiting information. You would pick up the sports page one day in the spring and there would be a list of all the new players coming in that fall.

At least his de-comittment was early enough to give the staff a good lead time to find alternative prospects. I seriously doubt they will hold off or slow play other prospects waiting for a possible recommitment. JMO

Peace

I am thrilled the kid is still interested, but equally thrilled our staff is showing some brass and looking for a new prom date energetically.

Sometimes you just gotta throw that match and burn that bridge to make a point then move on. NOBODY is irreplaceable.

If Ky is #1, when is he supposed to make a final decision as to which school he will commit to?
No insider but he is an early enrollee so I'd say the end of summer should do it. The problem is... what if Fsu doesnt offer and he recommits and then around Nov Fsu decides he's the guy and pushes hard for him. ... do any of us trust him?

No. Absolutely not. No way you can trust the guy. Don't want a well shit moment.

Sorry, don't understand all the negativity. It sounds like a positive development to me, he might not be fully committed but sounds like we are in pretty good shape. Actually I think even if he were say, 98% committed not a bad idea on his part to check out what the 2% could do, hey, after this season we could sign our own five star, who knows for sure.

How often does a player re commit? Probably very rarely. There's nothing stopping him from looking around at other schools while keeping his spot on the commitment list so it really doesn't make sense to give up your spot to look around. It seems like the chances of him wearing blue are very small at this point.

I wonder if one of his top schools told him they would not offer unless he decommitted?

Denzil Ware comes to mind as one who committed to UK, decommitted then recommitted and eventually signed with UK. Does happen but pretty rare.

Rivals "experts" have been telling Williams for months that he was too good for UK, to be give it time and "better" offers would come. It just SO HAPPENED he decommitted after attending a Rivals event. These people who pose as Rivals "experts" essentially shill for schools of their choice, in this case not so much Bama as FSU or UF.

I wish when I was 17 I had it all figured out 100%.......
Jarren found out there were lots of fine looking women wanting to take him to the Big Dance... Many were a lot better looking than the one he promised to taking a few months ago... Hummmm he wonders? Is beauty only skin deep?

Maybe Jarren needs to check this out before he puts a ring on it....

I don't think Bama's the team to beat here, I think it's Florida State

The problem is this is the guy that is supposed to be the leader of your team. A guy that wanted to commit earlier and the staff held him off just so he could be sure about being a Wildcat.

The same guy that has visited numerous times gushing over UK but was also allowed to visit other schools as well always coming back to say he wass solid. Finally he tells reporters, fans, and other commits he was shutting down his recruitment.

Then this same guy doesn't say anything to the coaches about having second thoughts he up and de-commits.

Is this the guy that is supposed to be our leader? The guy with character, that we can believe what he says? Does he even want to play here or are we just the best option he has if the Bama and Florida offers aren't commitable?

Sorry I just don't believe what he's selling. I'd rather go with a guy like Chase Wolf or Kevin Doyle that wants to be here instead of a guy that just had to settle for being here.

Just my opinion.

247 seems to think Doyle's leaning to Pitt. FWIW.

By "schools of their choice" don't you mean the schools whose alumni are financing their golf and off-shore charter fishing vacations??? With "dates"??? This has been my deep suspicion for a long time now.

I think it's just the opposite and show pure honesty. When he or any kids says they are 100% committed that is what they are feeling at the time they say it. Up to that point they have not seen anything else that would make them change their mind so in their mind they are 100% committed. Don't know why this is that hard to understand for grown ups to understand how kids react. They don't sit down with an attorney and formulate a brief that outlines their commitment level. They are 18 and excited and getting ready make a huge decision with everybody trying to sway them their way.

Now that the big boys and I mean big boys are after him it's natural to start doubting your early decision. He has big name coaches, other big name players, and probably writers/experts in his ear questioning his decision too. So I think it's natural and expected for a kid to say, "since I'm having some doubt let me just clear my commitment so I can start over an re-evaluate all of this because it's coming at me pretty hard"

Decommitting probably is a way of relieving some of the pressure he's feeling at the time and I think its natural.

Should they just wait and stop committing early and saying they're 100% COMMITTED, . . . sure they should but again they are 18 and are only reacting to what they know at the time. I guarantee when he committed to us he thought that was the greatest thing in the world at that time and we had everything he wanted and that means I'm all in. Doubt he thought he could find anything better. If the others hadn't come along no doubt he would still be feeling that way (and still may at the end) But circumstances change and that kids though processes change because of those changes.

I know we'd all feel better if they said something like, "I'm 72.5% committed" but the reality is that's not true either; because after they get the offer, visit, fall in love with the coaches and facilities, in their mind they are 100%! Things change because circumstances change.

That said I hope like heck he sees the opportunity here and comes back because he is the kind of kid that can make a real difference.

I have to agree that REAL dishonesty would be continuing to say you are 100% when you are not. This is not JW. The kid has not committed an "indictable" offense.

\Looking like we are on the verge of offering him, really can't imagine he would show us much interest being so late and have nearly 20 qb offers out
