Jamal Murray's dad says UK has contacted

So Teachable Moe, you think the USA Defenders where executing a defensive game plan to guard the World bigs? Please, it was an all star game. Murray got his points slashing, taking his man on and finishing at the rim with athletic creativity and impressive focus. Your comment is like this was a game between two well coached teams that implemented Defensive schemes. Murrays' single minded focus to get to the rim would have worked on either team.
I agree. The tools that stand out when you watch Jamal Murray are his pro handle, great feet, strength, and elite scoring ability from all over the court. Those tools will play very well anywhere, in any system. He is John Wall or Emmanuel Mudiah with a better perimeter and midrange game. If an elite coach like Calipari or Krzyzewski signs and develops Murray, he will be a high lottery pick and maybe potentially the top pick in the draft.

He's not John Wall. If he was John Wall with the offensive game he has, he'd be the best prospect in the last 20 years.

That's a big statement. John Wall????

The kid is currently ranked a 4* by ESPN and number 15 by Rivals with this years Junior class.

I love his skills but John Wall????

He looked just as good as Wall (or better) in the NHS. And before anyone says it, the NHS is not the McDonald's game, it's much more conpetitive. He was playing against the best in this class and he dominated. He's already 18, he doesn't need another year to prep.

I do not disagree about the competition nor his play. But the kid is a better shooter than Wall at this stage and the comparisons end there. If he were the athlete Wall was he wouldn't be on the outside of the top 10 of the junior class with his game abilities.

If Murray had the elite athleticism that Wall has he would be the top ranked player in the class no doubt. Murray doesn't though, he is an athletic guy more so than the twins are but not on the level of Wall. That's what sets Wall apart from others is his athletic ability, now is he the best in the league? No
Murray does have the ability to be a 20 ppg player in college. It all depends on how strong a class is in where a player ranks. I've watched Murray and the twins in HS and Murray is far better than them.
Murray is now ranked inside the top 10 in the insanely loaded 2016 class. Many pundits have said if he was in the '15 class he would be the best guard in the class.
Curry was not highly ranked out of HS and went to Davidson but seemed to do all right while having the same skill set that Murray is following. I think Murray will do all right no matter where he goes just like Curry. But I'm sure many of you guys would not want Curry because he was not a 5 star by XYZ rating service.

You do realize the "Steph Curry argument" can be made for any non-top 100 player, right? You also realize that probably 99% of those guys don't become NBA MVP candidates? Basing an argument on an outlier isn't that smart. You need a bit more. We all saw him in the Nike Hoops Summit. We also saw Enes Kanter in the Nike Hoops Summit, and despite him not playing in college and being a solid NBA player, you could've said he was Tim Duncan or Patrick Ewing after that game. He isn't and won't ever be either of those guys.

Reading comprehension is your friend reread what I wrote. All I said was that Murray is following in Curry's footsteps on his skills.
Clearly you have never seen Murray play in person or seen him workout I have. I have seen a lot of 5 star players and HS all Americans over the past 25 years and Murray is up their with the best of them in skill. Dude is very skilled and you will see just how skilled he is if he plays for us or goes to Davidson. He will be fine no matter where he goes Just like I stated in my post.
In the comments about Curry not being ranked by xyz and fans not wanting him.....well look around at this board. You have tons of comments every year when you hear about some unknown kid thet UK is looking at and you find KU that he is not ranked or ranked really low and the comments say pass don't want him his ranking sucks. Anthony Davis was one of those guys. I see it here with Murray, I've been pumping Murray for months and nobody cared for him at all and wouldn't even comment about him. Now he is a top 10 guy and UK wants him bad.
Otto Porter who was a top 5 pick was another kid I was pumping on here and nobody here wanted him. Saying he was more than likely going to Missouri or Arkansas after he started getting some attention. People said he wasn't good enough as his rankings weren't high enough.
I go off basketball skill and if that kid has the athletic ability combined to contribute at a college level. Porter had it and Murray has it in spades.

If we landed either and get Mulder we are set. Ulis, Briscoe, Hawkins, Murray, Mulder and Matthews at the 1, 2 and 3 would be solid IMO. Or replace Murray with Newman if we don't get Murray. Cal talking to Ingram today, that would take up the 3 spot if he gets him. Things starting to look up some.
Nailed it.
